Summary: She gave us so much to learn from
Review: Focus, caring about how you look, courage, love of learning, discipline...what human being doesn't aspire to these? Jackie knew what Laura Bush knows: Dress up in a Chanel suit and stay focused, stay true, stay brave. Someone give a copy of this book to Teresa Heinz Kerry.

Summary: A MUST HAVE FOR YOUNG WOMEN
Review: Growing up as a young woman in 2004 with "role models" such as Britney Spears, Lil' Kim and Janet Jackson, is not very promising. What Jackie Taught Us is perfect for my generation and obviously older generations who followed Jackie through her days at the White House and beyond. For me, it was wonderful to read about a woman with such strength, courage and knowledge as well as an unbeilvable sense of style--an image of grace and dignity-something you don't see very much today. It was not only a history lesson but I was able to take so many of Jackie's life lessons and I've already started thinking about how I can change to enhance my own life by her example. Tina Santi Flaherty has organized this information in such a way that it was a true self-help guide. Any ladies in thier 20's--you have to get this book to learn what a true icon is all about.

Summary: Jackie's Grace and Humility lives on.
Review: Having had the incredible privilege of knowing Jackie Kennedy personally, Tina Flaherty's "What Jackie Taught Us" definitely captured the essence and depth of a remarkable woman. I was a young teenager when my family spent many occasions with the President & the First Lady. What stood out for me as Tina so adeptly describes, was Jackie's amazing sensitivity and intuitiveness. As in the chapter about the humble gardener bringing the small bunch of violets to Jackie's "Grampy Jack" funeral and one of the rapacacious Aunts grabs the bouquet and sticks it in a larger bunch. Jackie later retrieves the violets and secretly places them in her grand fathers coffin not only to defy her Aunt's rudeness but to validate the tender jesture of the gardener. A similar situation happened when I was in line at The White House waiting my turn to give my condolences to Jackie. I was told not to cry when it came my turn to be with her as with all the other dignitaries and various relatives in the room this would be very inappropriate behavior. Needless to say to this 15 year old, I could barely get the words out of how sorry I was when I burst into tears. Jackie then proceeded to hug me and silently weep in what seemed to be elongated moment of genuine release. This authenticity of Jackie's Grace & Humility reverberates throughout the pages of Tina Flaherty's book. A must read for many lessons this world needs to revive!

Summary: I sure wish I'd gotten it from the library instead
Review: I collect Kennedy books so when this one came out I bought it and couldn't wait to get it home. I wasn't satisfied. First,Tina Santi Flaherty didn't actually know Jackie and makes some conclusions that even Mrs. Onassis's friends and colleagues did not make in their books. That made me "trust" the book less. I think buying Leticia Baldridge's book or the Eloquent Jacqueline Kennedy would be better bets for the money. In the universe of Kennedy books this is a lesser light.

Summary: What Jackie Taught Us is a psychological study of Jackie
Review: I congratulate Mrs. Flaherty on her beautifully-written, well-researched, and thought-provoking book, "What Jackie Taught Us." It is a psychological study of Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis par excellence, a blueprint for how to live a successful life.

As a psychotherapist, I am well aware that we can and do learn how to improve our own lives by observing and analyzing the lives of others. Mrs. Flaherty outlined her study of Jackie's life in such a way that helps us understand why Jackie lived the successful life that she did.
Mrs. Flaherty showed us how Jackie's strong sense of self, focus, follow through, love of learning, style, courage, and vision are qualities that each of us can acquire if we choose.

Thank you for your insights, Mrs. Flaherty. I highly recommend your book.

Summary: Waste of time and money
Review: I got this book hoping for insight as to what made this legendary woman so fascinating. What I received was a book which repeated the same thing over and over (I get it, Jackie's dad was a womanizer who was known as Black Jack, and her mom was critical, can we move on now please?), written at what I can only assume is a (...)reading level, by a woman who did not know Jackie, but is attempting to profit from the fact that they once lived in the same building. The one star is for some nice pictures, but if that is what you are interested in, then I would suggest that you buy a picture book. It would be a much better use of your money.
