Summary: A real heart-wrencher
Review: I read this book when I was a senior in high school (eight years ago) and still remember the emotions this boy's story elicited. The fact that this boy survived to tell the story of the horrific abuse and neglect he enduraed is a miracle. I will always remember this story and the tears that were shed while reading it.

Summary: Gripping!
Review: I loved this book! It beautifully describes the hardships of one little boy's life without going for pity. Instead, it gives out hope and the realization that a strong mind can overcome anything. It was especially enticing because it was real.

Summary: Hits home. Serious Tear Jerker!!!

Summary: A great and Sad story
Review: A sad story about a boy and his life. I have heard Jennings Michael Burch speak beacuse he went to my school. He is a great man and a great speaker with a sad story. He signed my copy of the book and I will cherich it for ever.

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST!
Review: one of my favorite books explaning the life of a child which had to learn how to survie. He's been in many foster homes which he usally got treated very badly. While he clutched to Doggie his stuffed animal which he got from his first home, he learned the meaning of love. He ran away alot of times and was found to be eating out of garbages. I also had the pleasure of meeting him and getting my book autographed by him. He still had Doggie which was in very bad shape but he's still holding on to it everyday of his life. This a definite page turner!

Summary: A Must Read!
Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read. It is sad and explains to people how horrible life can be. It is a story of survival and how one little boy had so much courage and stood through every painful moment.

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read.
Review: I had the pleasure of meeting Jennings Michael Burch when he spoke at Otsego Middle School in Otsego, Michigan. The school reads the book regularly as a teaching method of how to treat people with respect. Burch, who tells his heartbreaking, tear-jerking tale of an abusive childhood, brings all that emotion to his personal appearaces as well. This book has a lesson for many children...a lesson that spiteful words can hurt. Many children, and adults, would benefit from this book. Burch makes several personal appearances (for a cost) at many schools each year. Please contact me if you would like additional details. There is also word that the book will be made intoa movie and that Burch is working on a sequel.

Summary: Unforgetable!
Review: I did a cutting from the story in the 7th grade for dramatic competition. Later my mother found me the book I read it cover to cover, multipal times. That was 11 years ago and I still can not forget the little boy I never met, but touched me so much.

Summary: Heartbreaking...
Review: I am a junior in High School right now.. I read this book when I was in seventh grade. All I could do was cry. I broke my heart to read about this poor little boy that lived such a rough life. Mr. Burch came in to talk to our class after our unit was complete. I crued while he was talking to us. He brought in his stuffed animal that he had in the book to show us. It was a little different than what I pictured. I think that is what made me cry the most...To see that he still had his dog after all those years. I loved the book.

Summary: The enormous impact the book and its author have had on me.
Review: Jennings understated narrative lends credence to a wrenching, hard-to-believe story. I once knew Jennings personally and held Doggie in my arms when I introduced him to a class of my 5th graders in Chappaqua, NY some years back. Sorry to say I've lost touch with him. But his impact, personally, professionally, and emotionally on me and my students shall NEVER be forgotten. Especially on Rosey. I wish him and his family well wherever they may be, and in whatever form the fates have decreed.
