Summary: Excellent
Review: I didn't want this book to end. I enjoyed it although it made me cry several times. It made me appreciate being raise in a wonderful home - and gave me a heart for those who aren't so fortunate. My mother is now enjoying the book too!

Summary: This is one of my favorite books - very sad!
Review: I truly loved this book. It was heart-wrenching and I could almost feel the emotional pain that Jennings was going through. I love reading nonfictional books like these that people write of themselves. This was a deeply touching story...I don't know quite how to explain it but I do know that it was really really sad. Just read this book and like me, your heart will go our to that lonely sweet little boy!

Summary: Sad; Teachs of the sad otherside of the world.
Review: This book teaches others, as it taught me, that there is cruelty in the world. I never knew of this much cruelty, abuse, or alchoholism. Now I know about what I refer to as "The other half of the world."

It is an excellent book. A prized addition to everyone's bookshelf. Those who read it are given a gift from the author.

Summary: Now there are two of us telling the truth about orpanages
Review: Heart-felt and true. I thought there were only a few of us who were honest and willing enough to tell the real truth about orphanages.

Summary: My favorite book ever!
Review: If you have yet to read this book, you are really missing something! I have read this book 9 times, having read it at least once ever summer since the end of fourth grade (I just finished eigth grade). It is so good that when I finish it, I am compelled to read it again immediately. It tells the heartbreaking true story of Jennings Michael Burch who was shifted in and out of foster care, and searched simply for someone to love him. I cry ever time I read it!! It's great, and I believe it should be required reading for everyone. This is a trully inspiring book, and it is heart-breaking and uplifting all together! Read it!! I won't say anythingelse, but that it is the best, and is my favorite book!! (p.s. If you love Jennings Michael Burch as much as I do, check out his input in "Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul." also, I believe fellow lovers of "They Cage the Animals at Night" should check out Dave Plezer's books as they are of a similar nature and are very good.)

Summary: An 8th grader from Highland Park IL,
Review: I cried throughout the whole book. I couldn't put it down and when I finally finished it, all I could do was think about what happened. I think every 8th grader should read this book by Jennings Michael Burch. Maybe, it could help us realize how some children aren't as fortunate as others and from that we'd learn not to take things for granted. We'll learn to appreciate the better things in life.

They Cage Animals at Night is an autobiography of Jennings Michael Burch. Who at the age of eight is put into an orphanage by his mother to sick to care for him, saying only " I'll be back" this stay was the fist of all the foster homes and institutions. In all the homes he goes to he is beat up and harassed, except in one. To protect himself from the dull ache of loneliness, Jennings is clung to a tattered stuffed animal,Doggie. This is an excellent story of heart wrenching life. When I read it,it made me want to cry. Jennings Michael Burch is a great author. Not only does he makes you want to read more, but he makes you feel what he went though.
