Summary: Wonderfully engrossing story of terrors of childhood abuse.
Review: Fascinating study into the inner workings of the mind. Shows how past torments create future mental nightmares. Parents like Hattie and Walter do exist daily, and they create a concentration camp atmosphere for a child to grow up in, as did their parents before them. What is th eline between mental illness and abusiveness, as shown in Sybil's mother? What a lot there is still to learne about th ehuman spirit and human mind. Wonderful book!! Very moving, very sad. Very true, for many people.

Summary: One of the best books about multiple personality..must have.
Review: I am a high school student and i was assigned to read this book for my psychology class. I couldnt put it down. If you are interested in learning more about the human mind and psychology, you must read it. I thought it would be another boring book about psychology...boy, was I wrong. The story was very touching and you just won't believe what her mother and father put her through. Trust me...it is great and you should buy it today!

Summary: Story of Survival
Review: The story of Sybil Isabel Dorsett is one of a cruel, abusive, and unimaginable childhood. At the same time, it is a complex and remarkable story of survival and triumph. Though Sybil's life was hard to read about, I believe that it is a must for everyone - if for any reason at all, then to open your eyes and your heart to those who have suffered, or may be suffering right in front of you and need your help.

Summary: Get the book. You'll love it!
Review: I'm 14, and I read 'Sybil' when I was 12. I also saw the movie that year. I loved it! I couldn't put it down, and I read it 5 more times that year. I felt like I knew all 16 of Sybil's personalities, like Vicky and Peggy Lou. It really got me into multiple personality, and helped me decided to become a psychiatrist one day.

Summary: Read it. You'll understand more...
Review: I'm a HS school student, and Sybil was my HW for my literature class. After reading the first few chapters, I thought Sybil's 16 multiple personalities were result from her parents' neglect of her, therefore what her mother did really shocked me. Some part which used to describe how her sick mother had done to her were undeniable nasty, but also definitely touching. After finishing the book, everyone will understand how much he or she has been loved.

Summary: This moving novel is definelty a must read.
Review: When I first saw the TV movie based ont the book I thought it was a nice story. When I decided to read the book I was moved deeply. I origionally thought I'd just read this book and that would be all, boy was I wrong. I coun't help but be sucked into the book, it's so horrible, what Sybil's mother did. I started to 'relate' to Sybil as if I was there. I defineltly recomend reading this book, it's wonderful! If you enjoy reading and 'living' a story this is definetly the book to read.

Summary: I wish I had never read this book
Review: Although this book is clearly a groundbreaking and thorough look at multiple personality disorder and the events that can precipitate it, I wish I had never read this book. The images and events depict with graphic detail the horror of child abuse and these images are hard to forget. If you tend to be affected by what you read, be aware that this book and its story are deeply, deeply disturbing.

Summary: A must read!
Review: Must read this book if you're a psychologist or a student in the field. A clasic!

Summary: The waking self
Review: This book is impossible to put down; I started reading it and just couldn't seem to stop. It is wonderfully written narrative, which leads to insights of the human mind and abnormal psychology. "Sybil" causes great philosophical questions of mind and body to arise. The horrific account of sexual and mental abuse will shock you. This book is a must read, it is an account that I shall never forget.

Summary: Speechless!
Review: This book is electrifying!! I couldn't put it down. Even when I wasn't reading it, I couldn't stop thinking about it - I would even dream about it. It was written so wonderfully that I never felt lost or confused at any time. I would give this book 10 stars if I could.
