Summary: Definitely motivating!
Review: Having become familiar with Fred's unique brand of humorous writing from his website, I wasn't quite prepared for this book. I had thought it might be more of a day-to-day account of his weight loss journey, but it is much more than that. It is full of common sense ideas for self motivation, imparted in an easy to accept manner. I have already lost most of my excess weight over the past year (105 pounds) using plenty of the methods Fred has found successful. I do think this book would have been helpful to me as a great inspiration during the times I struggled with staying on plan, and I really enjoyed riding along with Fred on his journey to good health and hunkdom.
I think Fred should write another book, similar to the ongoing website journal he maintains, because I believe he is a talented writer with a remarkable ability to poke fun at himself and to find humor in everyday events. (Okay, Robyn, can you pay me now? Just kidding!)

Summary: Wow.
Review: I have never felt so inspired. This book has truly taken my attitude from "I can't" to "I can" - After reading just a few pages, you immediately want to jump up into a reality that Fred makes visible through his personal experience. I'm 21, have lost 25 pounds since reading his book, and have never felt better. I am so thankful to the author for opening my eyes. Buy this book only if you're serious about a positive change in your life.

Summary: Common sense advice from someone who has been there
Review: Fred knows his stuff, because he has lived the journey, day by day. His practical "no bull" advice can and should be applied to achieve not only weight loss, but any self improvement goal. Fred has lost a tremendous amount of weight, yes, but he has also vastly improved his health, conquered diabetes, lengthened his life, and is able to do countless things that were impossible before. As a long-time reader of his online journal(s), I could not be more proud of him!

Summary: Fred showed me the way!
Review: Fred writes in a straightforward, no BS kind of way, not afraid to say what may come across as offensive to some, but also tactfully. He throws in some humor now & then, too, which I always appreciate when I read. I truly believe he's found the ultimate method to becoming a healthy person, and has set the greatest example one can expect. I've adopted a lot of his ways of thinking after reading his book/online journal; it's hard not to, he's so inspiring. His book grabs the reader in the first few pages (I read it all in one day, even though I'd read it before when it was an online journal!), and really makes the reader evaluate themselves and their lives. I HIGHLY recommend!

Summary: You CAN change your attitude
Review: This isn't a diet book or a fitness book -- although the author does talk about changing his diet and activity levels -- it's really an *attitude* book. It focuses on changing commonly destructive ways of thinking. Urges you to visualize yourself the way you want to be, then live your life as if you ARE that person. It isn't revolutionary, in and of itselt, but the advice, coupled with the real-life experiences of the author, make it all seem possible.

Because this is a diary of the author's journey to better health, you get the whole experience. You get to see where he started, and what he changed along the way -- and why -- all the way to where he is now.

My one criticism? I wish there were pictures! The cover is fantastic, I just wish there others, to go with the text.

Summary: Consumed this book!
Review: Fred's book thoroughly addresses the day-to-day, sometimes mundane, often hilarious steps in the journey to losing weight and becoming healthy. He touches on the reality of it in such an honest way that gives him complete credibility. Basically he says start living and thinking and acting like a healthy, fit person and then watch yourself become one. This reinforces some of my recent feelings of "I'm amazed at how slender and youthful and healthy I feel when I'm exercising (walking) -- my mental image is very different from my actual 5' tall, 217-pound body (formerly 267-pound body, thankyouverymuch!)." I'm gonna quit fighting and/or being puzzled by that feeling, and just go with it.

He also hits on my favorite new concept, which is quit worrying about being perfect. So you make a poor choice . . . get over it and move on!

Sometimes he pontificates a bit, or is a bit intolerant of ways other than his own, but overall, he is hilarious, down-to-earth, enthusiastic, very intelligent and extremely inspirational. Who would think that a weight-loss journey would be so entertaining -- I couldn't put it down! It has been a real boost to my own efforts to become more healthy. I highly recommend this book!

Summary: Telling it like it is
Review: With out sounding too hokey here I'd like to say that I find Fred's book very inspiring and almost bible like. There have been so many times I've thought something like, "I'm too tired to exercise", and then I'll read some nuggets of wisdom from Fred and he's talking about what I'm thinking, and he straigtens me right out and gets me back on track with his "no bull" advice.

Fred really tells it like it is. There is no magic pill that will make us all a size 4 over night. Basically, like Fred says, "eat less and move more" and it will happen. It won't happen over night but it will happen.

This book is also very entertaining. Fred is so witty. I find myself laughing out loud all the time from reading his book. This book is worth the read even if you're not interested in losing weight or living a healthier lifestyle.

Summary: Inspiration and humor intertwined
Review: Fred Anderson's common sense approach to conquering his own struggle with his body weight, when he finally had enough of his own excuses and broke down the wall that stood between him and his goal, is a very enjoyable, easy read. Even removing the weight loss aspect of this book, one can apply Fred's no-nonsense approach to any goal that seems elusive and out of reach. In *From Chunk to Hunk* you'll find insights on weight loss, motivational rants, realness, and a glimpse inside Fred Anderson's day-to-day life. Somehow, Fred makes even the ordinary funny and entertaining. Great book!

Summary: Guidelines for empowered living
Review: This is not just a book about weight loss, it is a complete set of guidelines for empowered living and self-transformation. Fred's vision for himself, his no nonsense approach to changing his "mindstyle", and his thought provoking dialogue with hooked me immediately. I finished the book in three days, and have started reading it again and writing my own transformation journal, with Fred's "believe it and do it!" attitude guiding me. Thank you, Fred!
