Rating: Summary: More of the same? Review: Not being a consistant reader, very few topics peak my interest. When the often overused word "soulmate" comes up though I often follow. Having experienced meeting a soulmate once (so far)in my 41 years is by far a gift. Before reading this book I did read the reveiws and that Richard had indeed divorced his soulmate. Not passing judgement I read with eager anticipation of past experiences of love deeper than any words could describe. I was not happy that when shopping for the book ,it was in the fiction area. I would want to hear truths and facts not opinion's of how it should be,after all I have been there. The book was a slow start and I waited to be awakened to that wonderful place deeper than the heart and harder to find than bigfoot! I did not find this in a well written but rather vanilla book about the faults and convictions of love between two people. I am not faulting Richard for the later divorce as life is a constant reminder of stress and balence. Its not easy for anyone. I did catch a deep appreciation of preserverance from Leslie and a rather immature Richard throughout there romance. There are no answers when it comes to "the five ways to find your soulmate" if there was we would all be happy and there. This book lacked the deepness that I felt in a relationship with my soulmate. I understand we are all different, that my story can not be his. Perhaps another read will give me more food for thought? I will give it a try. Good luck finding your soulmate he/she does exsist, often there are meny people that could be in ones life time. Good luck to Richard and Leslie.........peace
Rating: Summary: Ironic Review: I liked this book when I first read it, though I find it ironic that Mr. Bach is divorced from the wife he wrote this book about.
Rating: Summary: Yes... but Richard and Leslie got divorced Review: I loved this book as well as "One" and they had inspired me for a long time. Then I leant that Richard Bach actually divorced Leslie and now has a new young wife. I also learnt that he abandoned his first wife and their six kids. So now I am wondering whether this briallant, wise, exciting story isn't anything more than a beautiful illusion. In any case I recommend reading it. And have these facts in mind because otherwise you can beleive in it too much!
Rating: Summary: Can be anyone 's story Review: In this book, the author takes us deep inside himself when he is tring to find his 'perfect woman', and then his life once he found her. We can very easily relate to the author because it s a very real story, and it is very interesting to see the evolution of the author throughout the book.
Rating: Summary: Half of a Hoggie Couple Review: This is the most important book I have ever read. It brought my husband & me together as a couple.... What more can I say?
Rating: Summary: Danger: Do not try to practice this book in real life Review: It is wonderful but dangerous. When you read the book you see and believe that you certainly have a soulmate in this world. And the dangerous journey begins. Powered by this knowledge you start seeking your soulmate. And it is high probability that you want it to happen so quickly that you entitle someone(your present girl/boyfriend) as your soulmate even though it is not the case. The most dangerous idea of the book is that your soulmate need not be or act as you do. It supports your differences in thinking, way of living, etc. and suggests growing up together with the aid of that special and very strong force between you and your soulmate. If both the girl and the boy read the book and think that they are soulmates(nearly impossible to be true for reallife situations) the relationship could seem perfect for some time and then it might end in such a way that could permanently damage your health, thoughts, heart, beliefs etc."Permanent means extending through the future indefinitely"
Rating: Summary: Still Learning Review: Writing a review about his books is like writing a review about his life, do I approve, what would I change, etc. Nothing, absolutely. The books are descriptions of learning processes with all the shades of grey manifest in them made especially for him by him. I love these books! I am just now reading Bridge. The only other book of his that I have read is Illusions. I am captivated and will move on to One after I'm done with Bridge Across Forever. What a wonderful journey, made more wonderful by his awareness of the little miracles that are not miracles, but are. I have learned much and remembered much of my own lessons and insights with some of his insights enhancing them. I have been blessed with many soul mate reunions in this life, some as friends, some as lovers, all cherished, the time magical and absolutely non-linear. I appreciate his gift to everyone interested in how to be aware of and enhanced by the experiences that lead you, and how our choices guide us through that crystal river that only wants to uplift us and carry us through space-time back to forever.
Rating: Summary: A Must-Read for everyone at some point in their life Review: I read this book, and 'One' in the reverse order - 'One' before 'The Bridge across forever'. So, it was almost like I saw the climax of a movie before it even started. But, in no way, did it diminish my liking for these books. Bach has done a great job at marying two most important factors in the lives that we live - relations and our yearning to be independent. He admits having gone through cycles of these feelings, till he realized what was more important at that time in his life. Often, 'philosophers' are guilty of advocating their point of view, and not giving a though to what kind of lives people like us live. Bach is the opposite. He writes truthfully and honestly about his vaccilations between his feelings, and how we found the solution.
Rating: Summary: Balance and Resolve Review: I first read this book years ago when it was first published. It captured in words everything I know in my heart to be true. I have been on this soulmate quest myself since I was 11 years old...I gave up on myself and compromised. Advice to all: Never do that! No matter how much pain you may be in. Wait. She/He will come along. By the grace of God, I have found this again, and with it myself. I have also found her too along the way in the most unbelieveable of circumstances. And after all these years too!! I am happy beyond words!!! Yet there are difficulties too, different, yet similar to those Richard and Leslie struggled with. We may not get together in this lifetime although it is my greatest wish and only prayer. Read this book. Remember its lessons always, for as Merlin said -"It is the doom of men that they forget". People, please don't ever settle for less than this in your lives.
Rating: Summary: simply amazing Review: I've been pretty much hooked on Richard Bach after i read Illusions. This is the next one i picked up. this book goes into the search for the perfect soulmate, how close we can come to destroying our chances, and how great the reward is if we succeed.i'm 17, and i've never really had anyone close to me on the romantic level. there have been girls, but none have seen things the way i do, and some have just plain hated me. this book is the kind that, just like Illusions, will give you hope for the future, and maybe make light of mistakes you've made in the past. Bach writes in the simply to understand, yet very deep way i've always enjoyed. again he uses airplanes and piloting a lot in metaphors and comparisons, and it works out perfectly. i know people say this a lot, but this book is very easy to get into, put very hard to put down. if you like any of Bach's other books, you'll love this. i recommend this to everyone who thinks that love maybe the reason we are all here, or anyone who needs inspiration that there is someone out there for you, waiting.
