Rating: Summary: This book changed my life!!! Review: I just turned 18 when I first read this book back in 1994. Ever since then, I've been reading it over and over again and each time I read it I discover something new. Richard Bach is a genius and there is no doubt in my mind that he is one of the best writers in the world and this book is one of the best books ever written. Everybody should read it at least once.
Rating: Summary: Beautifully written - inspriational Review: One of the most wonderful trips that I have taken with a writer. I would love to make a journey such as he describes. Soul mates are hard to find.
Rating: Summary: New Age pabulum Review: A very "lite" version of Zen and the Art of Motor Cycle Maintenance. (And what calories that could be gleaned from The Bridge Across Forever were empty ones at that.) Bach has merely given us a book full of platitudes, and what's worse, it seems to have been written with the mass market in mind. For a thoughtful and thought-provoking self-examination, check out Robert Pirsig's aforementioned book.
Rating: Summary: The Bridge Across Forever Review: I think we all have a bridge to find, and cross forever in our lives.
Rating: Summary: Real, true to life, and oh, so magical! Review: I'm only seventeen and love's just not really something I think too deeply about, but here's a book that reaches out and wrings your neck, screaming for your attention. Whether you're still recovering from a broken heart or have never been on a date, this will give you hope...something to hold on to, and make you believe that there's someone out there for you too. After having read this book, it is assured that you will look at your friends in a new light, and maybe give yourself a chance to explore a different kind of love. Best of all, it's true to life. It doesn't expect you to be beautiful or smart or talented to find true love. Just be you and love's not very far away. A wonderful read...most definitely.
Rating: Summary: Meet yourself, find your soulmate.... Review: Richard Bach does what I always wanted to do.... He writes about his own experience. And he does it so openly, like it's really okay to let thousands, or millions, of his closest strangers read well-crafted sentences illustrating the journey he was on from here to there in his still-unfolding life. Which of course is okay, just semi-terrifying for some of us to consider doing for ourselves. The book teaches. Bach lays out his assumptions (past) about what a soulmate was and what he needed to be happy and shows clearly how he learned to move past those assumptions. Without preaching, he shows by example (his experience) how difficult it can be to let go of our beliefs about ourselves and what makes us happy. In fact, the book suggests, those things that we hold dearest and believe to be the most important to us may be the very things that are keeping us from finding happiness in this lifetime. The story is compelling to read and thought-provoking.
Rating: Summary: Warm your heart with this one... Review: Here's a gift for all of us feeling our left brainy cerebral times could benefit from some heart-opening romance. Like a modern-day Eros or Amor, pilot/writer/bard/troubadour Richard Bach descends from the sky reminding us not to give up. That special someone is out there...yearning for you as hard as you're looking for her/him. While Bachs story speaks to the eternal romantic in us, it goes beyond. As we experience the quest for true love through the story heros eyes, we may feel how our own heart opens, expanding our circle of compassion for all life. We realize, to find that special someone, our soulmate, we need go within, access the great lover of life within us... Must read for all who believe there is hope for planet Earth... Modern day classics like this may shape our way of thinking/feeling for the golden age to come. Read this book, dare cross this "Bridge Across Forever". You'll be glad you did. And you never know who might be waiting for you on the other side...
Rating: Summary: something for everyone Review: I have read this book twice and I'm sure I will read it many more times in the coming years. Everyone will find something in this book they can take away with them and use in their life, even if they are not living in or are even close to the same situation. It reminds us that although it may be scary and almost deathly to let go of the comfortable, it is necessary to grow into someone even happier and comfortable than before. It gives hope to those who are still searching for their soulmate, and for those with someone right now, it gives good guidelines for a strong relationship. Overall, it's believable, and you are truly pulling for Richard and Leslie by the end of the book.
