Summary: Dr. Drew is a genious
Review: This is a great book. It shows us the cause and effect thses people have on others life. Some of you seem to think it was a self help book, but your wrong. Dr.Drew is a man a great knowledge that some people can't appreciate. He isn't some "Hollywood Doctor". Don't listen to these other people there Tards as the great Adam Corolla would call them. I've seen Dr.Drew's radioshow loveline change a lot of peoples life cause it offers something alot of people don't have common sense. The callers on that show deserve what they get said to them. Most of them can't answer even simple questions, but Dr.Drew still manages to help these people not matter how stupid they are. You all should listen to Adam and Drew maybe you'll learn something

This is the book that single handedly inspired me to become an addiction medicine specialist Dr. Drew is a great role model as well as a great person. So for all you people out there who didn't like the book you don't know good reading. thank you Drew for being a true inspiration in my life.

Summary: Deeply touching! Dr. Pinsky has alacrity for philanthropy.
Review: I am not an advanced reader by any means, but this book, has to be one of the most emotionally touching books I have read thus far. A few times, my hair on the back of my neck stood up during the course of his book. I had no idea, living a somewhat sheltered life, what addiction does to people. And Dr. Pinsky meticulously laid it all out so even I can grasp the pain and anguish these people go through; as they struggle to extirpate their addictions. This book should be required in high school, if all kids read this book, I believe, substance and drug abuse would go way down. Hopefully, Dr. Pinsky has plans to further his writing career, as his writing is sumptuously genuine. Fantastic book! Whether you have addiction in your family, reading for pleasure, or just curious, this book will deliever what you want, plus more.

Summary: best book ever written in the whole world!
Review: i love dr drew ever since i saw him on mtv. he is soooooo cute! and he really cares about kids and drugs or else why would he go on radio and write this book.

any way, i get so angry at all the stupid people who critizice his book. he is trying to help people in trouble with drugs and all these people can do is critizice! i think the book is written so boutifully its like im hearing dr drew talk on the radio without adam interupting him all the time. and its not true some one else wrote the book because drews name is right on the cover. he wrote it alright! it sounds just like him, and i love his voice. i also my heart went out to all those tragic boutiful girls he treats who wont accept drews help and died. i would give any thing to have drew at my bedside caring about me! its sooooo sad!

any way, dr drew dont listen to those bad reviews becuase i love you and apreciate what you ar edoing even if close mind people dont!

Summary: An Amazing Read
Review: From what I've read in the reviews so far, the only people that really did not like this book are the people who hate Loveline (so why did you read the book?). I, personally, am a huge fan of the show and could not wait to read Cracked. I couldn't put it down; I read it in about two days. It gives great insight into the lives of addicts, and the successes and failures of Dr. Drew's plight to help those in need. If you've ever listened to him talk about the book on Loveline, he is constantly commenting about how proud he is with it and how pleased he is at the way it came out. He should be - one can tell that he put his heart into Cracked, and he truly cares about the patients that he treats every day. I've recommended the book to all my friends.

Summary: Sloppy, Shallow, Phony
Review: I had high hopes for this book. I thought that Dr. Drew, once he got away from that tawdry radio show he co-hosts with "comedian" Adam Carolla, might be able to get serious in a book format. I thought maybe he would offer deeper insights than he gets to deliver on the air, in between all the fart jokes and endless boring tirades about Adam Carolla's petty grievances.

I was wrong. The book reads like a fourth-rate pulp romance, with one-dimensional cardboard characters whose stereotypical personality traits are repeated each time a character is mentioned, like some sort of Homeric epithet. Apparently, every female that Dr. Drew treats is "borderline" and "beautiful" and "looks like a fashion model." In other words, all Drew's patients are clones of Angelina Jolie's character in Girl Interrupted. Wow, you're so lucky, Dr. Drew!

It is this patronising, stereotypical depiction of everyone who crosses his path (even his own family!) that makes me suspect that the main reason Drew seems so consistently to fail his patients is that he simply cannot see them as unique, individual human beings. To him, they are all just simplistic character "types" who exist only to play supporting roles in Drew's incredibly self-absorbed little psycho-drama. God help anyone who goes to this guy for help!

I didn't think it was possible, but we get even less useful insight from Drew's book than we do from his asinine Loveline show. How sad. What a wasted opportunity.

The previous reviewers who complained about the shoddy editing and inept writing are, unfortunately, absolutely right. This is probably the most badly edited and tritely written book I've read in years.

I want my money back.
