Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Lots of fun to read! Highly recommended! Review: This book made me aware of the importance of instilling a positive self-image in my children. It was absolutely hysterical! I have previously owned my own businesses and will again someday. The suggestions and ideas that Ms. Corcoran & Mr. Littlefield have given me are priceless and I will implement them in my future endeavors with business and family! Enjoy it! It was a great read!
Rating: Summary: Use this book in the classroom, too Review: What a witty and fun combination of business advice and Barbara's life stories. The book is broken down into "lessons" : I intend to use the lessons in teaching, especially when students are struggling. I often forget, and this book helped me to remember, that everyone has a gift, and it is my job as a teacher to help students find theirs. Kept me reading from page 1.
Rating: Summary: Use these lessons in the classroom, too! Review: What a fresh approach to business how to. The fabulous author does a great job combining the funny story of Barbara's life, her mother's advice, and business lessons. You want to keep reading to find out what happens next. I am a high school teacher and have already incorporated some of her "business" lessons in my classroom - my students are employees in smaller bodies. Great book.
Rating: Summary: hilariously inspiring Review: Use What You've Got is the most hilarious romp to the top I've ever read! You learn how Barbara Corcoran took a thousand dollars and created a billion dollar company, using her mom's funny lessons like "If you jump out he window, you'll either be a hero or an ass." The book reads like a novel, but when i finished I thought of and have implemented several new ways to improve my business (as well as my personal life). Most of all the humble yet Brass Tacks approach is refreshing--because not only do you enjoy the story, you learn incredible lessons. Sort of like a fairy tale for adults.
Rating: Summary: use what you've got Review: Boring and repetitive. The same old stories with different headings. Much sounds made up and contrived. But worse than that is the blatant racism displayed in describing the chinese lady. How did this woman run a business?
Rating: Summary: Use What You've Got, Review: This is the best book. Forget "who moved my cheese" this is the new book for all corporate managers.
Rating: Summary: Thank you Barbara Corcoran Review: I am in real estate sales. Most of us in this business have personalities and energy that is non-stop. We find it hard to sit quietly and read...we would much rather be out on the street showing a property or arranging our next transaction. Barbara Corcoran's book is so engaging that I could not put it down. So much helpful advice.... this seasoned pro found it a shot in the arm. Thank you Barbara, Bruce and Southerlyn!!!!
Rating: Summary: Common sense + chutzpah = success Review: If you're a fan of the novel Woman of Substance by Barbara Taylor Bradford, this is the business book for you. Barbara Corcoran's rags to riches story of how she went from diner waitress to the Queen of Manhattan Real Estate reads more like a novel than a business book. And it goes to show - sometimes the best advice is plain old common sense. (But having a good sense of humor and a lot of "chutzpah" certainly doesn't hurt either!)
Rating: Summary: An incredible book Review: This is a must-read book if you are in ANY type of business. Barbara is a pioneer of her time. She intertwines business with fundamental lessons that her mother bestowed upon her. Use this book as a guide in real estate and you will most definitely be successfull. If you do not buy Barbara Corcoran's book, it will be like taking a wad of cash and throwing it out the window.BUY IT TODAY!! It's great!!
Rating: Summary: Great Book! A Must for any Real Estate professional Review: I read this book while studying for my real estate license. I learned a great deal about the business while reading this book. I'd recommend it even if someone wasn't into real estate. Ms. Corcoran is a great feminist role model!
