Rating: Summary: Empowering, Funny, and a Great Read! Review: Barbara's book is necessary reading for anyone who wants to make their dreams come true! The book is filled with inspiring anecdotal wisdom, and the often unconventional advice from her mom is hilarious. It is not only about the real estate buisness; but about real life struggles and triumphs. I have suggested the book to my colleagues and employees. Great work Barbara!
Rating: Summary: Inspirational, touching and funny! Review: I thought it was terrific. Not your average dry business book by any means. An entertaining and informative way to apply common sense, imagination and humor to business situations in a way that works. Should be read by people who want to be successful in ANY field (including parenting)--certainly not just real estate. A fast moving, inspiring read that almost everyone will relate to. Also just a thoroughly honest look into the mind of a very successful person.
Rating: Summary: Finally the TRUTH about REAL ESTATE Review: It's about time, Barbara has written an enjoyable and factual book on the life of a real estate broker. It grabbed me, pulled me in and I finished it in 2 nights. This is not a get rich in real estate book, but a wonderful story of one womans struggle to the top. I don't mean up on the ladder, I'm talking the very tip top of the New York Real Est. industry. I have made it mandatory reading for all of my real estate agents. The truth is finally out, hard work, dedication and a fair amount of luck can take you there. Way to go Barbara!!
Rating: Summary: Corcoran's Book Is Fantastic! Review: I heard Barbara Corcoran interviewed on the radio and I just had to get her book. The stories were humorous and educational at the same time. The book's style was quite unique. I couldn't stop laughing at the funny stories. No one in business or sales should work another day without reading this book. God Bless Barbara and her mom!
Rating: Summary: Barbara Corcoran's Jem of a book! Review: I bought Barbara's book, after seeing her on the TODAY show, as I am interested in transitioning into the real estate business as a career and who better to learn from then the most well-known broker in New York City. But the book was so much more then just another guide to selling and listing property or even the typical boring business advice book. It is full of thoughts and stories that are perfect no matter where you are in your career or what you want to do, even if you are not a "business" person. Barbara's stories are humorous, fun, and make you want to keep reading book. The book keeps your interest, even for a person like me who does not consider himself a "reader" and has a short attention span, I could not put the book down. This book is truly a great read and an excellent book to share with friends and family.
Rating: Summary: Corcoran Did It Again!! Review: Fantastic is the only word to describe Barbara Corcoran's new book "Use What You've Got and Other Lessons I Learned From My Mom." I couldn't put the book down! Her wit and never-ending commitment to perfection shines through in her most recent work. Bravo! I can wait to see it on the "Big Screen" Gary Gellman, Professional Imagemaker
Rating: Summary: Must Read Review: Use What you've Got.........You've got to read this book if you have ever dreamed of being powerful and rich and thought it could never happen to you. Here is a girl working in a diner having worked at over 20 different jobs and she ends up being an adversary and acquaintance of Donald Trump. This book is in short chapters and easy to read, but I had trouble stopping at the end of any chapter. I have bought a copy for each of my children and for a number of friends. This book isn't just for MBA graduates who want to have their own business; it is for everyone who wants a better life. And as a bonus I got to see my own Momma through out the book.
Rating: Summary: I remember her when she was a girl Review: I went to High School with Barbara and I have just finished reading her book. Her book put a smile on my face and brought back fond memories of growning up in Edgewater, NJ. From Chicky Dayock to Bubsy's grocery store where all the kids in the neighborhood went, to pick up something that their Mom forgot to buy at the A & P in Fort Lee, NJ, She described everything as if I were reliving it again. I absolutely love knowing that she took New York City by storm, went for it and built an empire unto herself. How fabulous that out of a little, dinky, blue collar town would there rise up from the shadows, a success story like Barbara's. I read this book nonstop from cover to cover and it was easy reading and fantastic advice that can be applied to just about any business situation.
Rating: Summary: What A "Must Read" Review: After 30 years in real estate and attending a variety of managerial and sales courses, I discovered that Barbara Corcoran can put it all into one great, page turning, book. Barbara's success is not based on being in the right place at the right time - far from it - Barbara's success is based on solid business smarts - great people skills and the ability to stick to her beliefs. I would encourage all real estate brokers who want to change "broker" from an adjective to a designation to read this book. I hope she is already working on Part 2.
