Rating: Summary: 1 star reviewers need glasses? Review: I am continually amused by the 1 star reviews against this book and I have to wonder if they need glasses or just have difficulty in comphrehending what they read. Nothing in this book even comes close to the statements they have made. Perhaps they are confusing this book with that 1,000 page outdated tome by JBQ. That would explain it!
Rating: Summary: I see that JBQ shill is still here Review: After looking at the last three 1 star reviews, it is obvious that 1 star reviewer (JBQ shill) is still here. Interesting though when I went to our local book store I noticed that The Automatic Millionaire is still in the top 10 of the best selling books. JBQ's? Not even in the top 100,000. I guess I know what his agenda is but thank God, it's not working. The Automatic Millionaire is an outstanding book that will take you to where you want to go financially. I was really excited when I found out that just one piece of advice in this book made a $500,000 difference (page 53) for Jim & Sue. Now that got my attention! This is a great book and timely too. Way to many people have been reading book by people who are writers only and have limited if any financial experience and no authentic readers to support them. The Automatic Millionaire is a terrific book, written by someone who practices what he preaches and has thousands and thousands of authentic supporters who have tried and succeeded with this winning formula. I al so recommend Suze Ormans new paperback "The Laws of Money."
Rating: Summary: Very complete and accurate advice Review: My spouse and I are very similiar to Jim and Sue in income. In fact that was what persuaded us to buy the book and go to work. Hard to believe that people could become debt free millionaires on an income that was equal to ours. The first thing we did was forget the word budget and simply pay ourselves first. We then automated our financial lives by selecting direct deposit for our payroll checks and automatically having our first 10% deposited into a no load mutual fund. We then revamped our mortgage and began, just like Jim and Sue to make two monthly payments instead of one. On those months when got got paid three times in a month, we make three mortgage payments. Unbeliveable how much faster oour mortgage is bing paid off thanks to this strategy. Geez, I wonder why our bankers never told us this? We had some credit card debt especially after Christmas and began using the same strategy to our cards. We thought it would take most of the year to pay the cards off. No so. They are already paid off! Following Jim and Sue's example we are planning on renting out our home as soon as it is paid off and then buying a new one. The rent payments recieved from this home will help us pay off our new mortgage in record time. When I first read this book I was taken back by it's simplicity and had to ask myself over and over if it was this simple, how come we never heard about this before and how come everybody isn't doing it? Good questions! Perhaps too many have been JBQ'ed to poverty! I was also excited to see that credible financial people like Jean Chatzky, Cnadace Bahr, Ginita Wall and Robert Kiyosaki all recommend this book in addition to other highly credible business people like Brian Tracy, Ken Blanchard, and Bill O'Reilly. Overall, The Automatic Millionaire is a great book that will make a tremendous difference in your financial life. It has already made a tremendous difference in our lives and we have only just begun. We look forward to being up there with Jim and Sue, hopefully in even less time. Thank you Mr. BACH!
Rating: Summary: Incomplete advice? Review: I found this book simplistic and incomplete. Our income is close to that of Jim and Sue. We live modestly in a $100,000 house that has around 30,000 left on the mortgage which we have paid ahead 5 years. We save 14% of my income for retirement, have 3 months income saved as a cushion, tithe 8%, and have less than 1% credit card debt. We drive a 10 yr old car and a 7 yr old minivan. No cable TV, no vacations, no extraodinary expenses - in fact our monthly expenses are less than other financial books give as guidelines. Bach doesn't tell us how Jim and Sue paid for a 450,000 house on their income? There is nothing in the book about major purchases - like a car, college education, medical bills, etc. And perhaps Bach underestimates property taxes, utilities, and the cost of raising children. I frankly am puzzled ... The advice Bach gives is GOOD but he doesn't go far enough in my estimation.
Rating: Summary: JBQ Shills? C'MON NOW! Review: I find it amusing that a certain reviewer is referring to all of the one star reviews as being placed by a "JBQ Shill." Seriously folks, how can a person who cannot sell books even afford to hire a paid shill? Doesn't make any sense. I do believe that that 1 star reviewer has a serious problem, probably deeply in debt and has a lot of hate so takes it out on reputable authors like Bach and perhaps is hoping that you suffer the same financial calamities. The Automatic Millionaire is an OUTSTANDING book and highly recommended for anyone who wants to achieve great wealth. In another regard, I do agree that JBQ's book really stinks and is totally worthless.
Rating: Summary: Powerful book...definitely a must read Review: I can't recommend this book highly enough. Like the review, I do not understand the 1 star reviews...must be the same person reposting over and over. The Automatic Millionaire is a great book. No fluff, just real meaty finanial advice that really works. Ignore those paid 1 star bashers and readt this book. You'll be glad you did.
Rating: Summary: Good book - ignore negative 1 star reviews Review: The Automatic Millionaire is an excellent book for anyone who wants to build and keep wealth. I don't understand those 1 star reviews.
Rating: Summary: I see that JBQ shill has hit here too Review: Isn't it intersting how everytime a successful personal finance book comes out that passes JBQ's book (which is every personal finance book that comes out), that shill has to come out and attack. A very successful person once told me that you become successful at the service of others not at the expence of others. Don't try to make your house, business or whatever look good by tearing down anothers house, business etc. JBQ shill, may you choke in your own vomit. That said, Dave Bach has written an exellent, excellent book that really delivers and then some. You find find out how to pay off your mortgage in record time, get out of credit card debt, invest profitably and use strategies for the times. Dave Bach's book was written in 2004, not 1997 like some other book that gets undeserved praise. I bought Dave Bach's book last night along with Suze Orman's new paperback "The Laws of Money" which I also highly recommend. If you want financial advice, get it from professionals like Bach and Orman not magazine writers who have no real experience or credentials.
Rating: Summary: Save your money!! Review: Consider this book a Double Flat Latte!!! If you have already read Smart Couples or Women, this book will be a complete waste of your time and money. If you haven't read Smart Couples or Women, then I highly recommend you purchase one of those. The information in Automatic Millionaire presents the same information that was in those books. I like and have followed David's steps in his Smart Couples book and have been very successfull in achieving my goals. I think David should "write" a new book on the next steps of financial planning instead of "cut and pasting" an old book.
Rating: Summary: Yet another rah rah book Review: Just another one of those books that lead (or mislead) you to think you can make it, only to find that it is harder, or impossible to get rich. Sure, follow the advice and you won't be bankrupt, but that kind of results we can get from listening to our folks in their eighties! Try simpler and down-to-earth books like The Art of Happiness at Work or Dot Zen.
