Rating: Summary: Where was this book 30 years ago? Review: I've read David Bach's "Smart Women Finish Rich" book and really enjoyed it. Three of my friends and I met twice monthly to discuss and follow through on his recommendations. "Automatic Millionaire" is even better, in that it is more direct and easy to understand. I've procrastinated all my life about taking care of my money, and Bach has made sense out of what used to seem overwhelming and therefore easy to avoid dealing with. I have ordered this book for all of my nephews, my sister and recommended it to all of my friends. I truly wish I had read it 30 years ago. I would be retired by now!
Rating: Summary: What they don't teach you at business school Review: What wasn't taught then...are the simple things that we ALL need to know. Practical things. Like how to choose a easy and systematic way to save...how to get into a position to buy a home and then how to get it done...and how to plan for a retirement that doesn't compromise your standard of living. Simple things, important things. And yet, we put it off for another day. It's too confronting. Too often the prospect alone of dealing with personal finances is enough to bring on a lengthy bout of procrastination. In guilt or panic, you buy a book, and there are so many things to do and think about, it's incredibly overwhelming, and so you push it away for another day. Sound familiar? This book is different. First, you can finish it within about two hours. Secondly, rather than blasting you with a firehose of fifty things to do, consider and make decisions about, David Bach breaks down financial success to about five basic concepts. Ideas that are easy to understand and absorb. And easy to take action on. The concepts may seem like "Common Sense" to many. Yet "Common sense" is not "Common Practice." David Bach shows you how easy it is to move from understanding a concept to actually implementing it in YOUR life. David Bach, in a warm, personable style, coaches you through the concepts, making them easy to understand and accomplish. Nothing in my business school coursework prepared me for the task of dealing with my personal finances. The simple desire to be a homeowner, not a renter. The simple desire to have some kind of financial security to look forward to upon retirement. This book makes your personal financial planning simple. And then you automate it. And with peace of mind, you can move on to the things in life that you really enjoy.
Rating: Summary: FINANCIAL FREEDOM Review: Reading The Automatic Millionaire and actually implementing the steps has changed my financial life. Yes, lot's of the information was common sense, things that we know we should do but have not done. I actually implemented many of the steps that were suggested - bi-montly mortgage, automating everything, etc. This book is a wonderful personal coaching program. Once you've implemented the steps, that's it, you can let your wealth start to build itself. I also strongly recommend Smart Women Finish Rich to be able to read over and over.
Rating: Summary: Basic Financial information Review: This is a very basic book to start getting your financial plan together. The idea of setting up automatic accounts isn't new. It has some good ideas like, pay off your home and don't carry credit card debt. Don't buy anything until you have saved enough for it is a little unrealistic. In an ideal world everyone would have followed the plan.
Rating: Summary: Reach Your Financial Goals! Review: I read this book as part of the Automatic Millionaire Coaching Program which David back did in the fall of 2003 with 100 participants. This book is an easy, enjoyable read, and teaches how to create a financial plan and STICK TO IT, which so people actually do. This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to acheive the American dream of owning a home, retiring comfortably, and reaching your financial goals. The secret is to automate your finances, and David teaches how to do it in this book. You will not regret buying and reading this book!!
