Rating: Summary: A Simple But Thoughtful Plan Review: David Bach's books are easy to read and practical. He has once again given down to earth advice on planning for financial freedom. He doesn't give flashy ideas that pique your interest but are so complicated that they are difficult to implement. Instead, he uses ideas that engage common sense with back-up resources to show how planning can be undertaken. Everything you need is included in this book. I have read and used his other books and workbook. It's now a toss up between Smart Couples and this book for a wedding gift to young couples. I will buy copies for my young adult children as they start their families. Thanks David.
Rating: Summary: Good advice but doesn't take a whole book Review: The advice is good: set it up so you max out your 401k and set aside money in some mutual funds through automatic bank deductions. Doesn't have to be much, just make it constant. Thing is, you get this same advice in magazines several times a year. You don't need a book to tell you this unless you are just totally helpless and need to have it spelled out for you with some stories thrown in.
Rating: Summary: easy to follow Review: i loved the book, the steps were easy to follow, and once you set up everything (one time) you really don't have to worry about it. It's a great way to get started saving or if you just want to become a millionaire
Rating: Summary: If you only buy one book this year . . . make this the one! Review: I have read at least 20 books on personal finance. I have learned something from each of them. Automatic Millionaire addresses the real solution that caused me to read all these books in the first place . . . how to use the money that I had coming in to pay my bills, have money for emergencies, and some fun. What I didn't expect was a super-easy-to-understand plan that would not only show me how to, "painlessly," address my core concerns but would also step-by-step teach me how to implement a do-it-once-and-then-forget-it plan to have a VERY comfortable retirement. This is the ONE book you need to read if you really want to take painless yet powerful control of your finances.
Rating: Summary: Come on people, 5 stars? Review: I can sum up this book for you: Do everything your mother told you was prudent. If she didn't tell you anything then do what you are constantly told in every financial guide - save money consistently and don't waste it on nonsense. If you bought this book you just broke rule #2. The second edition of the book will add this wealth-accumulation method: Compile a bunch of common-sense and readily available facts about any subject and create a book. Get a tempting cover and a slick marketing campaign to sell said book.
Rating: Summary: The Last Piece of the Puzzle Review: I love this book! The key things I got from it are: 1) Budgets don't work, automating your finances does. 2) Put your money where your values are. 3) If you're working 40 hours a week, why pay everyone else first but yourself? Since reading the book I'm calmer about my finances, and feel that I control them, rather than they control me.
Rating: Summary: More peace and security Review: I am very pleased with David's latest book. I also participated in two of his coaching programs. His book is easy and understandable to read. I am in the process of following his suggestions and I feel more peace and security about finances than I ever have. I really like the idea of automating finances as much as possible. He has numerous suggestions in his books that are helpful.
Rating: Summary: Hands on - Take Action Book Review: This book provides step-by-step action items to automate your saving in various areas (retirement, home ownership, new purchases, etc.). David Bach gives very clear steps that are easy and don't take much time to set up. The best part is, once everything is set up, you just sit back and watch your money grow (no more action is needed on your part). The book contains specific web sites and specific companies that you can use to "take action" and get your life automated! The book is really easy to understand and WILL give results! I highly recommend this book to any new saver or someone wanting to evaluate their current savings process!
Rating: Summary: Run, don't walk to get this book!! Review: The Automatic Millionaire is an "easy read" with many wonderful ideas. This book motivated me in a way that no other money book has. It has understandable, clear and useful information. David Bach includes web sites and phone numbers to put your money into action immediately. As today's financial life changes so quickly, this easy to follow one-step plan makes the process quick and simple. This book was truly "on the money."
Rating: Summary: Seems all to familiar...... Review: If you have read another book by David Bach, save your money. This book has no new ideas. I was very disappointed in the book. Mr Bach has repackaged material from previous books in a more simplified manner. I was hoping for more insight since I had read two of his earlier books, but found the material all to familiar. It seemed like a dumbed down version of smart women finish rich. I can sum up his message (and save you $13+) - save 10% in retirement, buy a house, don't use credit cards, and tithe and do all of these in the most simple way possible and then you will be a millionaire.
