Summary: The Best Book about Being/God
Review: I've read alot of self help and spirituality books and this one is the best so far. Tolle makes the cosmic concepts understandable. I think he must be Meister Eckhart (of the 13th century) reincarnated because I am reading Meister Eckhart's sermons and they sound just like Eckhart Tolle's theology. I highly recommend this book to anyone who seeks a way to connect spirituality with religious teachings. The clarity with which the truths are presented convince the reader that Tolle has been fully realized as a master.

Summary: Lifechanging book.
Review: It is very rare to find a book that enables you to actually experience the level of consciousness that the author is trying to convey. This book is not for your head. It speaks to your soul.

Summary: The search for truth stops here...
Review: ...Because here is where you learn to begin *finding* it. I bought this book cynically, because I was sick of reading ancient expositions on dead religious ideas and wanted something relevant. But I'd never read anything modern that did anything but make me roll my eyes. Oh, and I accidentally bought the audio version; I meant to order the book. Eckhart's voice made me chuckle and his words struck me as "harmless" for about ten minutes. And then he changed my entire life. From that day on, I have focused my energy on better understanding and applying what I've learned from just these tapes (mind you, it takes me about a month to assimilate most teachings, and assimilating teachings is what I do). I will never stop, because there is no end to the truth that this book teaches.

Summary: power sounds attractive
Review: I must say that there are a lot of helpful insights in the book. The root of the conflict that humanity has at the moment is certainly 'the self' or 'the me' in other words. I have no doubt in my mind about it. So I would like to thank those who are seriously concerned about this matter because this is world's greatest problem that must be dealt with immediately. On the other hand when we go into this matter deeply we see that 'the self' is such a subtle and dangerous entity that wants to live forever. In this journey towards truth there are many who fell into some kinds of spritual illusions. They said they even experienced death. So we must be very alert and watchful in this journey. There are lots of people who want to be gurus. They may be both in a spritual illusion or they may do this for their own good. I am not saying this for Tolle but I am just merely stating a fact. I noticed two things which I must have questioned with Tolle. First is the name of the book. The name on the book offers you some kind of power. Since we all seek some kind of power this name would sound to people very attrective. So I question if the purpose of tolle is to gather some people around him or his purpose is merely find those who seek truth seriously. He could heve been more carefull when choosing this name. The subtle danger is that the root of the problem with humanity is this seeking of power of anykind since I think all power is evil. Second thing with tolle is his other book about practicing living in the now. I think there is no practice and method of meditation whatsoever. If anybody offers some method for meditation he wants to be a teacher then. In my opinion there must be no guru in this journey towards truth since I think 'truth is a patless land' as J.Krishnamurti says. We must be both the teacher and the disciples for ourselves. Only then we can be a light to ourselves. I hope I am wrong with my doubts with tolle since I think we certainly need some who want to tansform their conciousness seriously and innocently since we need this transformation of human conciousness immediately. Otherwise this sacred life will come to an end soon. Again thanks to Tolle and those who wants to something about this.

Summary: New Territory
Review: I found Tolle's book to be a wonderful resource on how to live in the moment. Through clear explanations of access points and hindrances, the reader can discover how to attain the so often considered elusive state of enlightenment. Where everyday life becomes an enriching and savoring experience. Another inspiring guide to living a meaningful life is called "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work," by Ariel & Shya Kane. I highly recommend both of these books.

Summary: A must have
Review: There is nothing I can add to the other reviews except my vote: This is truly important book and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is for all readers, not just those who enjoy "spiritual" books (it is on the second such book I had ever read). I have bought many copies for friends and they in turn have done the same.

If you are tempted to buy his "sequel", "Practicing the Power of Now", please, please be sure to read the reviews first - it is a poor abridged version of the original and in my opinion does not contain the lifeblood of "The Power of Now".

Summary: An extraordinary presence of being
Review: E. Tolle's own reading of his work is well worth the purchase and investment in hearing, again and again. His voice carries a presence and cannot be described only experienced. The book is a wonderful read, but it invites the intellect, the mind, to intercede, interpret, contradict and to allow the reader to miss an underlying truth running like a gentle stream throughout the work. Tolle's own reading, however, carries the reader like a fallen leaf, gently floating, observing and sensing the stream beneath and the world around.

I listened to these tapes continuously on a three day cross-country drive. And they have not been out of my vehicle during my daily 2 hour commute. I have heard new things with each listening. I have seen 'new' things in each commute. Perhaps I was simply ready, but hearing this has changed me and it has begun to change my life.

Summary: not enough
Review: There are a lot of helpful insights in this work of tolle. But although he says he was not affected from any other particular teachings, I have strongly felt the effects of J.Krishnamurti in almost most parts of the book. The concepts such as 'observer and the observed', 'the thinker', 'pure observation of thought' was used by Krishnamurti before. I felt like he was interpreting what Krishnamurti said.I would be quite astonished if he really was not affected by Krishnamurti as he says. So I would recommend the readers of Tolle to read Krishnamurti if they have not meet him till now. I think that is the origin of all these other teachings. I think tolle had difficulty to understand what krishnamurti meant when he said 'the self' or 'the me' was totally illusionary. Having difficulty to understand this, some have created the concept of 'higher self' just like Tolle did as far as I observed. And we must always keep in our mind that it is so easy to go into an illusion created by the mind. So finally I have seen some helpfull insights in this book but I strongly recommend the origin which is krishnamurti's teachings. Tolle have published another book which is about the practice of living in the now and practising meditation. I did not even find it worth for reading since I know it as a fact that 'there is no method no practice of meditation and there is absolutely no guru who will teach methods of meditation in the search of truth since 'truth is a pathless land' as krishnamurti says.' I would recommend to all to stay away from those who say they have methods for enlightment.

Summary: Life Changing
Review: A friend of mine sent me this book from Newyork to Bombay, India. After reading this book I felt that such a book is beyond all the ratings what to talk of 5 stars. Indeed, the book is very well above 10+ stars. Many authors and preachers have told us about importance of 'NOW'and need for being in 'NOW' for eternal joy, fulfilment and meaning in life. However, the simplest - down to earth - manner in which Mr. Eckhart Tolle has clarified and explained the present moment 'NOW' is highly praiseworthy. He has shunned all the esoteric and unintelligible jargon and said so much in a simple modern language. I read the book three times and each time every word in it reflected a deeper meaning of itself.Every word is useful to practical day to day living.I suggest that every one interested in making a progress in her/his spiritual journey must read this book.
