Rating: Summary: Life Changing Review: Amazing. Changed and continues to change my life. A pity that some readers here missed the point.
Rating: Summary: I needed the workbook to make it work Review: I agree that this book is wonderful -- helpful & enlightening. But I needed the companion workbook to figure it out, or "get it" one might say. So I recommend the workbook supplement, Practicing The Power Of Now, and also the practical psychology complement, The Positive Power Of Negative Thinking. These books help us learn to get in touch with the Power to feel better, be better, and live better. Spirituality and psychology, the positives and the negatives, are finally coming together Now, in mysterious union. As Jung might expect.
Rating: Summary: IF Review: If you read this book, I think you will enjoy it. If you do, I think you will be making a good start toward happiness. If you follow reading Eckhart Tolle's "The Power Of Now" with also reading Norman Thomas Remick's "West Point: Character Leadership Education...", you will acquire confidence through philosophical KNOWLEDGE. If you acquire knowledge, you will acquire happiness. IF.
Rating: Summary: KICK OFF YOUR SHOES Review: Kick off your shoes, shut off the TV, and grab your self a hot cup of tea. Stoke the fire and curl up in a cozy chair. This book is bound to center and balance you once and for all. I also would like to recommend the book, I Talked To God And He Wants To Talk To You. Excellent book.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: It's very worth reading. The content is very complete. I found it as insightful as Geneva Nights. I'd read it again.
Rating: Summary: Living in the moment Review: It's all about being in the moment. "The Power of Now" is a profoundly simple approach to enlightenment. Written in a straightforward question and answer format, this book uncovers the simple secret to living an extraordinary life. Simply being in the present without judgment is all that it takes. It is our minds, our egos that make it difficult. When you identify yourself with the drama you have created you lose touch with your truth and your life suffers. This book and Taro Gold's new book of wisdom, "Open Your Mind, Open Your Life" went out to all the folks on my Holiday list this year! Excellent.
Rating: Summary: wide range audience appeal Review: This book is for people who want to understand life and life processes more thoroughly with a fresh outlook. It is for people who would like to extract the senseless and unwanted pain from their lives and see things more clearly. Learning to live in the present moment will change your life whether you think it will or not. There is nothing more sacred than to appreciate and celebrate each moment. It is called living. Eckhart gave us a precious account of his experience and spiritual search. We all could,if willing, learn from it.
Rating: Summary: My Incredible 3 year Experience with The Power of Now Review: I found this incredible book when it first appeared almost 3 years ago. Since then I have been an avid "practitioner" of this most beautiful and natural state called presence. I have seen Eckhart Tolle in person a dozen times. I feel really sad when I see a review from someone who has not experienced not only the state which Eckhart so gently leads you to, but also does not recognize this gentle, amazing man who has what we all want and only wants to show us how to find it. He is the most selfless, egoless person I have ever known. He is pure love, as only you can be when there is nothing left of you but God. Presence is in his voice, in his tapes. I urge you to listen to Ekchart before you make any judgment about his teaching. There are some short audio sequences on his website at eckharttolle.com. My life is overflowing with peace and joy as a result of believing in his teaching, and following his simple practices.
Rating: Summary: A Profound Message Review: The turning point of my life happened because of this book. I had explored religions and many self-improvements books in the past but really haven't found anything fit into my logic/intuition completely. To me, they are not flawless since religions are mostly man-interpreted. I bought the book few months ago and have been feeling very much liberated. I am very grateful toward Mr. Tolle, a person who found the path and also so determined to share it with us. His writing is so clear and genuine and I found my life changed dramatically as I read the book every time. I bought the CD version after the book and have been listening to it everyday --it is very helpful to remind myself anytime I can to practice my new thought pattern. Along with the book, I started to practice meditation as well. Thank for Tolle, I think I finally found the treasure within and I can see the positive changes happening everyday. Highly recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: A rational approach to loosing your analytic mind Review: For those of us who shy away from anything that sounds as newagie as "The Power of Now", Tolle's theory (or perhaps his explication of Buddhism) is exceptionally rational. There has to have a been a period of time before we ever had our first thought, before we were able to accumulate the surplus of background noise and static, and before we were able to berate ourselves about the past and project ourselves into the future. An ingredient in thought is 'consciousness' but (with meditation as a sort of proof) consciousness does not supervene on thought. What came first - the chicken or the egg? In this case we have an answer. There must have been a time where consciousness preceded thought in order for thought to have occurred at all. Therefore it is possible for us to exist separate from our thinking minds, due to the fact that we were in fact once separate from our thinking minds.
