Rating: Summary: I love this book! Review: I've read this book many many times and I can't put it down. Monty Roberts is an amazing man, standing up for what he believes in. I learned a lot on how horses respond to different actions, and it helps. A great book for anyone of all ages.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely had to finish the book once started. Review: I purchased the audio for the treadmill, needless to say I didn't walk for three hours, I finished listening to it in bed. The best and most sincere horse story I have ever read. If you love horses, you will find a wonderful, astonishing man in Monty Roberts. I will listen to it over and over!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Smiles and Tears make this book a winner. Review: THis is a great book that will really make you think next time you're around a horse. The best biography I have read. A personally touch by Monty Roberts makes this book interesting and gives it a unique flair.
Rating: Summary: Very good Review: Seems to me the review coming from our bitter friend in Illinois is rather nasty. The book is well done, very spiritual. Seems our reviewer from Illinois is in need of help. Lets reach out to this angry person who has issues with her own parents. She is a lost, bitter soul.
Rating: Summary: Inspirational and innovative Review: When I read Monty's book I was suffering problems with my own horse. I found the book inspirational but very similar to many other trainers stories who have also been shunned for training in the "different" form. After seeing one of Monty's demo's I tried his tactics on my own horse. Apart from increasing my confidence they also increased his and we showed our new found partnership to many other locals who couldn't believe it. Monty's book gave me courage to go it alone and believe in myself. It is a powerful piece of work, a little pedestrian in places but the story achieves it aims magnificently
Rating: Summary: Inspiring, heart-wrenching, a wonderful biography! Review: I laughed, I cried, I learned to think differently about the animals I love so dearly.WOnderful book! The Appendix has an explaination of Monty's "Join-up" method, and the rest of the book is a wonderful story of the man who developed this method, and how it came to be. It helps clarrify the method - to understand the man who developed the method.
Rating: Summary: Very moving and inspirational! Review: This is a great book for anyone, even those who do not know that much about horses. It is: descriptive, emotional, moving, and inspirational! I encourage you to read this book!
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put down until I read all of it Review: I first saw Monte on one of the news reviews and was able to relate because of horses saving me from disasterous life and child abuse. I bought his first book that was printed in England before this one was available. Monty autographed it and so I bought this edition so I could loan it out and save my first Book. I never felt so close to someone because of his emotional ties to horses. I had a similar back ground of child abuse and the horses taught me to survive. If you have ever wanted to know how to join up with man or animals and have compassion for others you have to read this book and also see his videos. Loyal fan Veronica
Rating: Summary: A must for all horse libraries! Review: Monty Roberts' book is way overdue! Fortunately a good part of the horse industry offers non-violent means of educating our horses, but his in-depth study of the equine language and application of his findings has no doubt saved many horses from an unproductive life of fear and pain. Especially for those of us who don't use our horses for "work" but for pleasure, this is a great guide to help our four-leggeds have as much fun as we do. Sometimes fragmented story, but enjoyable to read -- and best of all APPLY!!
Rating: Summary: An excellent book. Captivating. Review: This book held my attention from the start. I found it hard to put down. It amazes me to hear of Monty's accomplishments and of his incredible experiences. A must read for anyone who has ever worked with animals.
