Rating: Summary: A must have for those who settle for less Review: Dr. Grant is definitely a God sent messenger at this hour for the Woman (not just African American, even though we need to take heed so we can get ourselves together). This book has taught me to settle for nothing but the best.( Not that i settled for less) but sometimes in this walk of life because we don't find what we are looking for when we want it, we sometimes give up on our initial hopes and dreams and start to have a pity party. and thus begin to settle for anything( Things that are not for us). This book puts a stop in this area( If you are receptive to it). For anyone tired of settling for garbage YOU NEED TO GET THIS BOOK. NO JOKE! I'm not just telling you this just for the sake of it. I'm telling you this because you are my SISTER and i want you to move to the next level. God BLess!
Rating: Summary: An excellent reference Review: Essence Magazine's long-time advice columnist Dr. Gwendolyn Goldsby Grant counsels Black women on everything from finances to relationships in this book. This book offers the type of sound, no-nonsense advice you might expect to hear from your mother -- especially when she advises us not to make decisions while lying our backs! She encourages readers to examine their lives truthfully and to try to understand the motivation for the decisions that we make. The discussion about finances talks about how we sometimes spend money that we don't have to bolster our flagging spirits. The greatest lesson I took from the book is the importance of putting all relationships, not just romantic ones, into perspective. This book explains the importance of establishing and maintaning good relationships with our creator, ourselves, family members and significant others. This book is a classic and belongs in the library of any woman trying to make her way in this world.
Rating: Summary: The Mind Blower Review: The Best Kind of Loving gave this reader a new sense of respect for Black Women that previously had been absent. The author is one of the brightest minds to come along in this century, she should have her own television program to reach a greater audience. You go girl.
Rating: Summary: An eye opener for today's black women Review: The only thing I questioned in the book was the 5th Chapter. I read nothing about advising women to get out of these bad relationships, but only how to deal with themselves. By staying in a self-destructive relationship how do you still get over the feelings you have by remaining in the same situation. Even though you work on yourself and change your attitudes you are still confronted with the same issues. So you have to work on dealing with yourself AND with a cheating partner. Why not advise these women to get out of such relationships? That is what really surprised me.
