Rating: Summary: Bears reading and rereading. Review: I've read this book three times now. There is something immensely comforting to it. Perhaps I just like to be reminded that there are immensely wise and powerful spiritual beings in charge of our ultimate destiny- instead of corrupt corporate CEO's.... I see no deception in this book, nor do I see how there could be deception. Just take a look at the events that were revealed to Mr. Brinkley in 1975 that have come to pass: Chernobyl, the dissolution of the Soviet Union and subsequent rule by Mafia, the Gulf War, the death feud between Palestinians and Israelis.... What really got my attention during this rereading was the passage about Armegeddon being fought on a hundred battle fields all around the world and people willingly surrendering all freedoms in the name of safety. Sounds like the "War on Terror" and the National Security Act" to me....
Rating: Summary: Humans will give up all freedom in the name of safety Review: It is scary, when fear reigns, as we have it today in the USA after the attack of 9-11. Dannon encounters WW III, stating "fear so great that humans will give up all freedoms in the name of safety!" Should the USA become the "Land of the Safe" and the "Home of the Oppressed"? Who would write a hymn to that? Dannon went to "heaven" after he died and he had many visions into the future. Yes, we are in the earth to co-create with the deity, he is told. This book is extremely fascinating. It confirms carma - the balance - as he experiences his former deeds on earth and its after-shock. The purgatory: we have to suffer everything we did to others - like a ripple-effect. Do I recommend this book? I wish every person wrapped up in their faith, Muslims, Islams, Christians, Jews, Sufis, Buddhists etc. would read it, because no matter what your believe is, this book is true for all of you! Let's shoulder our burden together and avoid a worldwide conflict WWW III - ...
Rating: Summary: Great story Review: It's definately a great story, but I would have been more convinced if some of the predictions were still to come so we can validate them as well. Most of them already happened when the book came out, so it's easy to claim they're psychic predictions. I use to believe that the Other Side and N.D.E.'s were for real. But now that I'm older I don't just believe everything I'm told. Sure, I'd love for it all to be real, but I don't know. There are good arguments supporting both sides. Like, if one is dead, and the spirit floats above the room and can see everything, that cannot possibly be a hallucination. On the other hand, it may all be made up for entertainment purposes only.
Rating: Summary: My Fav. NDE Books ¿ I¿ve Been There Too Review: One day in 1995 I died, and had a NDE. Ever since then, I've been reading everything I can on the subject. According to most stories I've read, I had an unusual one, not going down a tunnel, but experiencing many interesting phenomena all the same. It seems to me that there are some NDE books and magazine articles that are just hype, and published just to give recognition. I have found, through my many years and multitudes of books on the subject, that there is an underlining truth and spirit that pervades the true experiences. So, I have compiled a list of my best reads for NDE books - ones that I consider genuine and adding validating light to the personal NDE experience. I have left out compilations, these are personal narratives. I hope you enjoy them too. Embraced by the Light ------by Betty J. Eadie Psychic Gifts ---------by Tiffany Snow Saved by the Light --------by Dannion Brinkley 4 Days in Eternity ---------by Wayne F.A. Marentette After the Light -------------by Kimberly Clark Sharp
Rating: Summary: Spiritually uplifting, despite bad predictions Review: One of the most moving, compelling accounts of the Near-Death-Experience that I know of, Brinkley's story is a powerful antidote to hopelessness and nihilism, and in particular to fear of eternal damnation instilled by the Christian religion. His experience shows that death is not to be feared. It is neither the end of existence, nor is it a time of divine punishment. But most importantly, it teaches us the importance of love. After death, neither money, nor power or status count, only how much love, compassion and kindness we have given others. Brinkley's story, endorsed by the leading NDE researcher, Raymond Moody, is highly credible, even though most of his predictions turn out to have been inaccurate. For those who would take this as evidence that Brinkley is a fraud, two observations are in order: 1. This work is not primarily about PSI ability. It is about a profound, life-changing spiritual experience. 2. As part of that experience, Brinkley was shown a probable future that was likely to happen if he didn't change his ways. But he changed, and the world changed with him. That's the point of a negative prediction: to motivate personal change for the better. This book will of course not impress those who are looking for scientific proof, but for the others, it will be inspiring and spiritually enlightening.
Rating: Summary: Simple. Review: Prophecies are always a touchy issue. The future is never written in stone as it is written in his book. I don't get the impression that he gives these prophecies in order to reveal to us the future, but to give a possibility of events. Really to drive home a point that with the fear of death and loss of faith in God and in our spiritual selves, we will befall a great tragedy on our own selves. Wether you agree with that point or not is up to you.
That's not why I gave his book five stars. I gave his book five stars because I like the author. I believe a few prophecies to be way too far-fetched to ever happen. I have seen more of Dannion on his video, his other book, and watched his lectures. His entire message is that there is no such thing as death. His entire purpose is to assist the dying spiritually. I don't make claims to his character. I make no claims to the truthfulness of his. I give this book five stars because neither it nor the author are very hard for me to understand. He doesn't present new doctrines. Just what he experienced. Maybe he'll turn out to be a fraud, but I still like this book and the author. That is assuming that any of these metaphysical authors are for real to begin with.
Kudos!
Rating: Summary: A life enlightening, truly inspirational work Review: Since your book was a gift I wasn't expecting what I read to be as inspirational as it turned out to become. I was profoundly moved by the transition your experience created in your life. I understand that usually these experiences happen when someone needs an "about face" in their lives. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at the content, but truly inspirational having gone through many losses of my own. If this book doesn't help others go through the loss of someone they love it isn't any fault of the author.
Rating: Summary: A confirmation of the spiritual realm, affirmation of joy Review: So glad that Dannion was impelled to share his life with us: I am hesitant to delve into so many books of this content because of a deviation of my Christian beliefs, and I sighed with relief each time Dannion referred back to God's authority. He brings our purpose into focus once again, as those of us trying for that are usually off stomping around in a garden of weeds forgetting the Bible's teaching of kindness and selflessness. Got my attention:). And I sped back to the store to pick up the continuation, "At Peace in the Light", and could no more put that one down than the first :). Now I have to find his website :)
Rating: Summary: Same reader from Canada Review: So young I can't even spell young
Rating: Summary: Disappointing. Review: The book was at first interesting, but than scared the crap out of me. I had to finish it only in hopes that the ending would calm me. It did a little only because it didn't continue to scare me. All his predictions we're revealed as I feel they should have been.
