When reading Dannion Brinkley's recounts of his experiences, one gets a feeling he is being brutally honest about himself. He admits to killing people in Vietnam as a soldier and enjoying it. During his NDE, he recounts feeling the all the raw pain and suffering he CAUSED to his victims and their relatives while reliving the incidents during his NDE. He described how he was quite a cruel human being, and how he was forgiven by God. After the NDE, Dannion transformed himself to an extremely altruistic individual. I really found interesting how Dannion described how he actually "felt" all the repercussions of his negative actions towards others, and how those actions affected many more others than the original "targets" of his negativity. Not only did he re-experience himself causing negativity, but he actually "felt" the receiving end simultaneously. I think his experience should make us think twice next time we feel anger, jeolousy, or anything negative. On the flip side, positive actions also reverberate throughout the world according to Dannion. I highly recommend this book.

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Extremely Detailed & Interesting Account of a NDE Review: I just finished reading this book, and I must say that it was extremely interesting. The author, Dannion Brinkley, gets struck by lightning while talking on the telephone and is clinically dead for 28 minutes! His account of what follows his "death" is absolutely amazing. It is the most detailed near death experience account that I have read, and even Dr. Raymond Moody, a Ph.D & M.D. and authority on the subject, says the same. This book is very insightful if you are interested in studying accounts of near death experiences (NDEs). Brinkley's vivid retelling of what he witnessed is astounding -- detailed "interactions" with "beings of light" (as detailed as I've read, anyway), a visit to a crystal city of light, revelations he received about the future that really occurred (Gulf War, fall of USSR...), and much more...He even tells of "psychic powers" he had upon his return, which are very interesting. I'm not into psychics and all, but this stuff he can do is supposedly documented and "verifiable". Nevertheless, what he claims is very interesting and he seems to be truthful. All in all, a very interesting, detailed, and compelling account of a NDE. Brinkley's relationship with Dr. Moody lends a great deal of credence to a fantastic, almost unbelieveable story. Definitely worth reading, but for those of you who have not read about NDEs prior to stumbling upon this book, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING DR. RAYMOND MOODY'S STUDIES FIRST, which are very scientific and objective studies of NDEs (esp. "Life After Life" and "Reflections on Life After Life", etc). This book makes a good case study after you have read Moody's works...

What I don't like is hype. This book falls into that catagory. I just finished Tiffany Snow's book Psychic Gifts in the Christian Life - Tools to Connect, and even there is no hype. Also, Betty Eadie's book Embraced by the Light should be in every bookcase. Tiffany's for reference, to be used over and over again - Betty's for simple inspiration, and Dannion's to be put back on the shelf. Sorry. No Go.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Profound Review: I picked this book up off of my mother's night stand and took it with me to read in the waiting room of the ccu at the hospital. She passed as I was reading this book, and I felt like I understood everything she was going through after she left her earthly body, which helped me tremendously. In the years that have followed, I have continued to live my life in the knowingness I received from Dannion's story. If you need some peace or understanding about death, I recommend this book highly.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Wonderful Book! Review: I read the book, "Embraced by the Light", by Betty Jean Eadie first, and it was wonderful. Then, I picked up "Saved by the Light" and this book, along with "Embraced by the Light," absolutely changed the way I view my life and my purpose in it. I definitely have a more heavenly perspective. I am quite a bit more sensitive about my actions and thoughts. I realize that what's important in life is not so much the things, that we do, but why we do them. The why defines our motivation and thus our hearts. Read these books. They'll change your perspective, and possibly your life.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Good, but not great Review: I recently read this book after being referred to it by a friend. It was very interesting, covering the details of his near death experience and those of others he met through his lifetime but i found myself solely looking forward to reading the personal near death experiences of people he met rather than the details of the mission that he was sent back to undertake. An interesting read, but in my belief it certainly was not a life changing experience for myself. I also found that I could not stand the way he continually revealed to everyone he met about his experiences. Enlightening, but not overly uplifting.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Mr. Brinkley.........Please. Review: I was encouraged to read this book by a friend. I was told of its great spiritual significance. Ha! This book, very frankly, is pure amusement. SAVED BY THE LIGHT contains mention of 117 (not 115 or 120...117)predictions and "lessons" learned while in heaven. Folks, the FACT that several have come and gone by there prophesied designated times is PROOF POSITIVE it is all one of two things: 1) A hoax to make big bucks in books, movies, tapes and seminars. 2) A misguided individual who truly believes these things, but alas, has been proven wrong! There is little difference, as far as credibility goes, in Dannion Brinkley and doomsday cults who give dates that certain things are going to happen because "God" told them....only for the dates to come and go without the scenario playing out. The game is over! For example, we know the U.S. economy did not implode by the year 2000. How people can see these "prophesies" passed on from on high by Mr. Brinkley come and go and STILL give this man the time of day is beyond me. I know there is a dire need to believe in SOMETHING. That is all fine, but to believe in Dannion Brinkley, at this point, is intellectually - and spiritually - impossible!!

I liked most of all the way he describes what he sees, from when he dies the first time etc. it is truly a book worth the read, and for those who are into things like life after death stuff, this book is a must to have
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: It changed my out look on life after death, dramatially. Review: I would like to get in touch with the author. As of course many would. I have recently lost my husband, and because of Dannion's books I feel more at ease with the loss, even though it is still very dificullt. I would like to some how contribute to Dannion's cause and work with him. Please contact me with how this might be possible. I have considered this for some time, even before the death of my husband. I think with Dannion that somehow I just might be able to make a difference in some peoples lives.
