Summary: A HAPPY ENDING
Review: This book was very informative. I really loved this book not only because they are from my hometown Newark, New Jersey. But it was an interesting novel. They came from the ghetto and turned out to be very distinguished gentlemen. I am so happy I read a sucess story from my hometown. I recommend this book to people that feel is though there is no way out in the ghetto when there actually is.

Summary: "The Pact"
Review: This is a must read for all teenagers from the ghetto or from priviledge means. It not only tells a very compelling story of triumph and adversity, it shows how one can make through the power of love. These young men loved , trusted, and encouraged one another until the end! They are now successful doctors as a result of it. The story does not stop there! They are giving back today through their foundation called " The three doctors foundation" and I recently had the pleasure of meeting them and guess what? They are just as real in person as they appear in their book. Go to their website and check them out if you don't believe me. They have touched so many lives through their book and their countless endeavors in the community. Just because they care! I am so proud of them! This is how we will turn our community around.

Summary: Winning against the odds!
Review: This is an inspiring story for young males, inner city youth, aspiring physicians, or anyone who may need a story of encouragement. These three young men have faced adversity throughout life. Coming from less than desirable communities, single and low income families survived the rigors of peer pressure, street life, college and medical school. There friendship is one to be emulated by all. I commend them for their diligence and commitment to each other, their communities and medicine. Well written and well done!

Summary: Don't Miss This One!
Review: This is the best book I have read this year, and that is saying something, since I am an avid reader. Growing up in a rough neighborhood was not easy for these young men. As they each tell their stories, the reader gets to know Sampson, George, and Rameck and the hardships, family problems and peer pressure they dealt with. This inspiring story shows us all that with determination, fortitude, dedication, and, choosing your friends wisely, much can be achieved. These men have a positive attitude and a commitment to helping others that will definitely uplift anyone's spirit.

Summary: A "must-read" for ALL adolescent MALES....
Review: Well, girls can read it, too, for it is an inspirational treatise by three remarkable young men. As graduating seniors, a trio of inner-city youth from Newark decide that they are going to become the doctors and agree to help each other in their quests.

They must cope with the appeal on the street of "fast money" by selling drugs that so enveloped so many of their peers. They must contend with the prejudices against them as they attempt to succeed in their respective professions that seems, at times, to be unwilling to accept them. And, finally, they must deal with the tough economic realism that their goals, even with maintaining an exemplary standing, are costly endeavors, demanding much of their finances.

The book is an excellent chronicle of all their struggles, providing a lesson in "determination, dedication, and discipline", the three "D's" coined by co-author Sampson ("Sam")Davis. It even features an epilogue with the recipe that young men can use to form their own pact.

A marvelous primer for any group organized to instill character and purpose in any young man is this book.

Summary: good book for young men
Review: who are in grade school and face difficulties living in the inner city or ghetto. This book has the capacity to be very inspirational to young, minority men who have a bright future and wish to fulfill dreams that their peers may not. However, if you have no children and are older than, maybe 19 or 20 years of age, this book is just "okay." Regardless, I am very proud of these young, successful men.

Summary: A wonderful read!!!!
Review: Words can not convey what a wonderful book this is!! I chose this book from a book list for a class on cultural diversity mainly because I was a graduate student in nursing and figured I would be able to relate to the medical aspect of the book. I was certainly in for a treat. I finished the book in one night, I couldn't put it down. These three men have overcome so much in the name of friendship and dedication. Kudos to the authors!!!

Summary: 3 wonderful doctors who really know how to G-I-V-E
Review: Writing a review for this book was a difficult task, not because of the content, but because most of what I want to say is already on the jacket of the book or has been said in another review. Then it hit me. Profile each character separately and then talk about how this book made me feel; so here goes. One of the three dreamed of becoming a dentist then persuaded his friends to apply to the Pre Medical - Pre Dental Plus program. Free college, free tutoring and help getting into dental school, the Pact was made. Neither of the three thought beyond the Pact. What would happen if one of us didn't make it, what would happen if one of us changed our minds?

Dr George Jenkins was born in South Carolina to George Jenkins, Sr. and Ella Jenkins Mack. At the age of two his parents divorced, mother and two sons moved to Newark, New Jersey. George was the curious one; his curiosity was peaked by his third grade teacher Viola Johnson. She took the class to see Broadway plays, and gave them some culture and taught them to have respect for themselves. She constantly told the class, get those degrees! get those degrees!

Dr. Sampson Davis born in 1973 to Ruthener Davis in Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, NJ. His mom married Kenneth Davis at the early age of fifteen and divorced him ten years later. Sam was very popular in his neighborhood, he loved numbers and of the three he was the analyst. He was also the man-child whom his mother looked to for things she couldn't do like reading her mail and making bank deposits to pay the bills.

Dr. Rameck Hunt also born in 1973 lived with his mother and grandmother he called Ma. He was the skeptical one of the three. Both his parent were strung out on drugs at one time or another.

These three inner city youths beat the odds placed at their feet. They knew how to count their blessing and recognize an angel when he or she walked into their lives. The Pre-Medical /Pre-Dental Plus program was and still is one of the programs under EOP (Educational Opportunity Program) If you have a dream don't allow anyone to snatch that from you. You too can become a doctor don't aim for the sky reach above it. Go on make your Pact today and prove them all wrong who said you couldn't. I loved this book and recommend it to everyone...
