Rating: Summary: Should be required reading! Review: I read this book while working on an article for my golf site at BellaOnline. It totally changed my game. I have put several of the ideas from this book to work in my own game, and the improvement is astounding! This book should come with every set of golf clubs you buy.
Rating: Summary: The perfect move is to buy this book Review: I was a 100 player at the beginning of this summer and after reading this book my scores gradually became lower and i even finish the year with a score of 78 at one of the toughest course of my region. I haver beaten guys that were more talented then me just by playing whit my head. If you want to save 490$ buy Doc Rotella's book instead of a new driver... Thanks Bob!
Rating: Summary: Sure cure for a golfing nut case! Review: I was a mental midget on the golf course. Despite my low handicap, I was capable of shooting 90 anytime out. My swing and tempo would just go away. Sometimes only for a few holes, sometimes for a few weeks. It all had to do with my mental approach. I would go "unconscience" for weeks and shoot my standard round in the 70's, then I would wake up and decide to "think", and all of the sudden I was a mess. The guys at my club called me Jekyll or Hyde, depending on who I was that day. I won my club championship in 1995, finished 2nd in 1998, then failed to qualify by shooting 92 in 1999. I was almost ready to go to a shrink, and I considered being hypnotized. I went to a local pro that I knew casually for a lesson, and he told me after 10 swings that I was fine physically. I told him about my troubles. He confirmed that I had mental issues on the course, and instead of nitpicking a with a solid swing, he recommended I read this book. He even gave me his copy. I got through it in 2 sittings, bought my own, and now refer to it often. I have attained a tremendous level of consistency and rediscovered my confidence. My USGA handicap has dropped back to the 4's. I am thrilled, because I went as high as 9 after a month of complete futility last season. The only reason it stayed that low was because they toss out your 10 highest scores from your last 20 rounds when computing the handicap. My average score was almost 12 shots higher than the previous year. I don't have the vocabulary required to adequately praise this book. All I can say is BUY IT! I still can not believe what it did for me. I haven't had any funky spells since reading it, and my entire approach to the game has changed for the better. Good luck.
Rating: Summary: The Best Investment in Your Game You'll Ever Make! Review: I was a twenty something handicap for twenty something years, but here I am twenty something days since reading Dr. Rotella's wonderfully simple, yet powerful book, Golf is Not a Game of Perfect, with a personal best golf score of "79"! Please read this book and I guarantee you that your game will improve. Thanks doc! -Bill Smith, Murrieta, CA
Rating: Summary: This is a must for anyone that wants to play better golf Review: In the first round that I played after reading this book, I beat my 9-hole handicap by 10 strokes! And it was the most fun I'd had on a golf course since high school. On one hole, I hit two consective balls out of bounds, ending up with a quadruple bogey. Dr. Bob's insights helped me clear my mind of the bad shots as I walked to the next tee and gave me the confidence to stick my tee shot to within 6 foot of the cup. I'm going to buy a copy of this book for every one of my golfing buddies for Christmas.
Rating: Summary: Grooving Your Emotions Review: Just as we golfers have to groove our swing, so must we learn to groove our emotions. Hit a bad, stupid shot, waste a shot or two or ? What to do? Rotella has been showing golfers, even some of the better ones such as Nick Price and DL3 and Tom Kite and others. His approach is a down-to-earth one, which starts here with his first book, to let us know "we're not going to play perfect golf. So why get all hot and worked up when we don't? Outstanding chapters I find in this are "fighting thru fear" and "what the third eye sees." This and his other books will help any golfer with the mental game. I find the unique attribute about Dr. Bob's works are that his suggestions really do go to the course with you.
Rating: Summary: Take It From the Best-Doc Knows the Mental Side of Golf Review: Legends such as Kite and Nick Price and Pat Bradley value their association with Doc Rotella. This was the book that kicked off his success on the book market and helped the rest of us. He shows how the mental approach for many of us is an "either/or" thing. Either we have the game that day, we're on, or we loosen up a bit and it's over. We don't try and we spiral downward in disgust with ourselves. He clearly shows through examples with the likes of Faxon and DL3 that golf is never going to be the perfect round, so why do we always blame ourselves when that first shot goes haywire? That's where this mind help comes in. He helps with mindset on the first tee to what to do when challenge shot is staring us in the eye. This is useful stuff to read and re-read and implement.
Rating: Summary: My husband is a PGA Pro . Review: My husband is a PGA pro with 20 years experience in teaching golf; this title is one that is at his bedside and has received his endorsement. Too many people get hung up on thinking about all that they are taught; golf is a test and an experience of communing with nature. The sooner you learn that the better you will be.Rotella tries ease the mind of the player and express the notion that each stroke is one to be celebrated, not analyzed to death.
Rating: Summary: Just having fun now... Review: Not much to say other than look at the target, look at the ball and swing!!! I shot in the 80s for the first time this summer. Get this book if you get frustrated during a round. It will help change and improve your game.
Rating: Summary: OK to Make a Mistake Review: Read this along with Putting out of Your Mind by Rotella. Puts golf into a perspective that helped me to focus on improvement and what is working not what isnt working..made me want to go out and play more.. fast reading.
