Summary: Reality or Entertainment?
Review: First of all, I must state that I really enjoyed this book. As a watcher of John's "Crossing Over" show, I was already familiar with how he works. He is very consistant whether on the written page or on TV. So, is this real contact with those who have died, or is it a very convincing act?

I try to keep an open mind but still retain a measure of skepticism. I'd like to believe in it 100% because it diminishes some of the queasiness/discomfort/fear/sorrow most people feel when contemplating the pain that the death of a loved one would cause, or has already caused. But I don't believe I've ever experienced anything (yet) that would convince me that this is really how life and death work. I've never been tempted to see a psychic or medium. But since reading the book and watching John's show, I'm getting more and more curious.

If you want to get a review of the book itself, here goes: The writing style is easy to read and generally flows pretty well. The stories John relates are often heartbreaking. There are also a number of lighter/amusing stories. If you maintain an open mind, you'll either enjoy the book as captivating entertainment, or, as an actual account of the extremely special abilities that John has. Either way it's a good read. I even read large portions aloud to my wife so we could both enjoy it together.

On the other hand, if you're absolutely convinced that John is a charlatan who rips off hurting, gullible people, don't bother yourself with this book. Similarly, if you truly believe that what John does is satanic or evil then you really will hate this book. If you're just not sure and are willing to keep an open mind, you'll probably enjoy the book as much as I did. While I won't be fully convinced without personally experiencing this kind of thing, I guess I'd like to believe...

What the heck - buy it!

John, if you are reading this review, keep up the good work. You bring a lot of relief to people who are in pain. Do the ends justify the means? Well, sometimes maybe they do.

Summary: God is energy and so are we
Review: I am no longer confused by the term 'made in their image.' John explains convincingly that humans are all "energy" in the eternal world, so I finally believe in god, though not the Christian God perhaps. This is the most powerful book I have ever read! Proof for the most devoted cynic or skeptic that life after life does exist; Here is the evidence that there are genuine psychics/mediums who can communicate with those who have "crossed over." Mr. Edward gives the living "One Last Time" to hear from their Loved ones through sessions/readings with him. His graphic disclosures are consistent and objective without conflicting with ones' personal faith. I had a "religious experience" upon reading this book and by watching him with an audience. No one will finish this book without feeling changed, validated or at the very least awestruck. If you fear Death or dying, this book allows you to look forward to it. (maybe a little too much) John Edward is a statement for empirical evidence of the sixth sense. The argument for a modern metaphysical "science" has just begun. - as posted on darkpoet.net

Summary: Wow!
Review: I think the ultimate testament to how good this book is is that it made an skeptic believe John Edwards is telling the truth. I have a hard time trying to reconcile my religious doubts with my belief in the stories in this book, but I did believe every one. I couldn't put the book down. The stories are just so compelling and heart-breaking, I cried through at least half of them. I'm sad now that John's TV show is off the air. When I see him do a reading on one of the audience members, I can tell that it's real for those people and that they are not acting. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Comforting and Amazing
Review: I was totally held hostage by this book when I purchased and started to read it. I literally couldn't put it down. The fact that John Edward comes across as an ordinary person makes the experiences and things mentioned in his book more believable. The book talks about how he first realized he had a special ability and the people in his life that have been the most helpful in guiding him along the path of being a psychic medium.

The experiences and happenings that John mention in this book has helped me to heal from the emotions I experienced after losing my Mother a year ago. Also, it has helped to open my eyes and realize that she has been leaving me signs along the way that she is still here with me, but on a different plain.

I have recommended this book to my friends who have lost loved ones in the hopes that they will find comfort in reading the book, as well as to help them to understand and believe that their loved ones are still in their lives.

I can't wait to read all the other books that John has written concerning this subject.

Summary: Well written and intriguing
Review: I've first heard of John Edward after a female psychic told me to watch his show. She had just given me an online reading where my best friend who crossed over came through loud and clear. I started watching his show and was very impressed, although I'm sure the shows are edited to show John's best moments. Instead of being a weird, spiritual person I associated with psychics, John Edward seems like "the guy next door." His writing has the essence of his down to earth style. He doesn't try to force the readers to believe, but just relays his experiences with the other side. John does mention that his work is more art than science, proof is in the form of acknowledgments from his clients. What is amazing about John Edward is that he doesn't give generalities but specific, unobvious information told to him by the deceased, which is often confired by the living relatives. In this book, John talks about specific cases he worked on that really affected him on a personal level. It was fascinating to read how small, seemingly trivial actions done by those on earth seemed to have been influenced by those who have crossed over. John admits he doesn't know much about the other side, but gives his insights, which are very much in line with near-death experience accounts, especially the importance of the love we shown here on earth, and that earth is like a "school" for our spiritual beings. From reading of this book, I realize that when we cross over ourselves, the only luggage we bring is our life experiences, feelings, actions and decisions we made and how they affected others. And with that luggage, we have a life-review where we judge ourselves on how we did. John wanted to convey in this book is how love can transcends all obstacles, even death. How are you doing in this great test called life? Great reading and highly recommeded.

Summary: Fun, entertaining, interesting, an important book for fans
Review: If you're a fan of the Crossing Over show, like I am, this book is a must read. By explaining how John discovered that he had these abilities, is a very important part of the book for the skeptics and belivers alike. The case stories are just as entertaining as the TV show. A note to the skeptics who wrote reviews saying that this is a scam, and that it is pathetic for him to claim to communicate with pets who've passed over... how can you know it's impossible? If you have facts to prove that it's not real, put them forth, we'd all be interested to hear. But to make that statement just because it doesn't sound good to you personally doesn't hold any weight. The fact that the world was round sounded hard to believe at one point too, right? How does he come up with all these facts? Where does the information come from? There's some force at work here. If you believe that what can't be seen isn't there, go back to 2nd grade. I believe a valid question might be "how do we know he's really communicating with our loved ones and not just intuitively picking up on the relationship that exists between these souls?" He's obviously giving factual information which he personally can't know about all of the people he reads. It's source would be the only thing I'd question. But who of us can claim we know better, or know for a fact anything in the spiritual realm?
