Summary: Wonderfully insightful and fresh. This book is a must read.
Review: Neale Donald Walsh's books are all good, but this one was by far my favorite. I enjoy the fresh approach to age-old questions either he or God or their "co-creation" is sharing with the audience. Friendship With God is a reflection of the times where free thought and new ideas are perpetuating at a remarkable pace. There was some overlap in this book, but as mentioned within, Walsh said the teachings of God are circular in their approach, and they expand tangentially outward in magical new ways.. Something to that effect. Enough said, read the book! ;)

Summary: Not my Favorite
Review: This was my wife's favorite in the CWG series. For me, the material was starting to get a little repetitious after the first three books, at least until The New Revelations came out. However, of greater concern for me is the trend for the voice of God inside the author's head to become progressively more smug and, occasionally, even disdainful towards the human race. Remarks from God regarding our "primitive" species seem to make their way into the discussion with greater frequency. However, I have often noticed the same condescending tone on the CWG website when Mr. Walsch responds to inquiries from some of his readers, so clearly the "filter" that the message is coming through is getting a little clogged with debris from the author's ego.

The author's humility and "wonder at it all" that was evident in the first three books dissipates with every volume of this series and the God that Mr. Walsch is presenting through his books is increasingly not the kind of Supreme Being I wish to speak to much less befriend.

Summary: Neale ... FALL FROM HEAVEN ... story
Review: 10 year old Neale had his own 'fall from heaven story' on pp.41-45 when his mom saved enough to buy "an old upright piano" and Neale "with perfect pitch...couldn't get away from" the piano. His dad was for "stop pounding on that damned piano" instead. So one summer day, his dad was "banging on it from the inside with a sledge hammer, then ripping it with a crowbar". Neale refused to leave his bedroom for 3 days afterward. Finally his dad gave in & knock on Neale's bedroom door & claimed he was " 'making space in the family room to put our couch along the wall...We'll get you a new piano, a spinet, which will be small enough for you to have up here, in your bedroom'... I don't know when it was, exactly, that I realized my father was not going to keep his promise. I do know that it wasn't until I was thirty that I realized he probably never intended to! "

Neale did the same kind of promise to his eldest daughter in order to mollify her as he was writing the above & he wrote "the sins of the father were visited upon the son..." God pushed Neale to declare what he learned from that story. Neale said on p.46 that it was manipulation and "it's the worst kind of lies."

Further Neale recommended reading "The Little Soul and the Sun" which is God's rendition of 'fall from heave story', the reason/handicap/gift for which we came to earth to experience.

To understand more about 'fall from heaven story' examples 'see all my reviews' & please find 'your own' & it is pervasive in each one's own lifetime on earth.

E.g. Neale in this book from the start on pp.25-32, God asked him thrice 'Why not just put the books on the Internet now? Make them available for free?' Neale gave 9 pages of rambling/lam/ excuse/filter/manipulation/lies. By June 29, 1999 when he finished writing this book (p.411) he was already a millionaire several times over from his copyright royalties received from the Conversation with God (CwG) trilogy. The trilogy all made the bestsellers list for quite a number of weeks.

I met Neale in April 1999 & asked him the same question plus how about a mass-market paperback edition of the CwG trilogy? Neale again 'manipulated' when he autographed in my CwG3 "this book should be free". The paperbacks came out in 2002, too late to make bestsellers list due to Neale's exploitation/greed.

This book FwG really starts on ch.3 p.36 (which is my #). By p.74 " Yet the reality of [God] will not be found in your previous ideas, but in your present moment experience.

Think of it this way: your mind holds the past, your body holds your present, your soul holds the future.

Put another way, the mind analyses and remembers, the body experiences and feels, the soul observes and knows. "

On p.82 " If [you] don't believe what [I] say then you will not experience it as your reality. [And] catch the closed circle here--because if you do not believe that you create your own reality, then you will experience your reality as something you did not create...'proving that you create your own reality.' " "What you resist, persists" (p.210)

I'll go further and say the only thing I really 'own' is 'my own reality' which I choose to create. Neale finally confessed in writing on p.98 that he was suicidal when God first started conversing with him through automatic writing "in February of 1992" (p.68).

On p.101 Weapons of Mass Destruction is mentioned before Bush laid claim to its WMD acronym for Iraq. Alas, because of Neale's filter God didn't bother to be as specific as in Will_I_am Shad's CwG where God states that the US is the only government who used WMD on 2 cities over Japan & never apologized for it. And present Jewish leaders never learned the lesson from Hitler thus perpetuating the same kind of bigotry by taking over Palestinian land & making the Arab Jews second-class. Using lies perpetrated by the old testament as the chosen/superior people. President Bush son & dad lied to US concerning the motive of their personal wars. Is it simply US bullying/exploiting/manipulating every one in the name of survival of the fittest and capitalism? Thus US fails miserably on God's declaration of "OURS IS NOT A BETTER WAY, OURS IS MERELY ANOTHER WAY--one statement that will heal the world." (p.153 & my birthyear)

On p.182 God states "lying is lying, whether it is by commission or omission."

p.259 God had to remind Neale on his promise to reveal his experience since the release of CwG trilogy. Neale started and went on to describe how Elisabeth Kübler-Röss kidnapped Neale with unconditional love. She is the founder of US hospices & she passed away in 2004 & Neale dedicated FwG to her. Bernie Siegel, another unconditional lover re-titled his own CwG.

p.340 Neale's true colors showed with his lam conversation & fan_atism with famous people like Shirley MacLaine instead of further elevating the nameless homeless who befriended him when he was destitute on pp.346-354.

Since 1996 I rarely swat even mosquitoes & that's the question Neale ask on pp.363-375 & God answers:

"WE ARE ALL ONE--Do unto others as you would have done with you,

because it 'is' being done unto you!

That is the Golden Rule."

More plainly as on p.395 God states "In a word, be God." and reminded Neale on p.401 to be totally transparent & honest. Neale wasn't willing to put his books on the Internet for free & used the lam excuse of his five ex-wives' privacy (p.304). So we can't know what happened in his own 5 intimate relationships & what he learned from those 5 realities he created for himself.

It is a miracle that ONENESS' message gets through loud & clear and only 2% are tainted by Neale's filters. For delivering that, the CwG trilogy & FwG deserve 10-stars.
