Summary: So far from the truth
Review: I only read the first eighty pages, but that was eighty too many. I have never read anything so far from the truth. I want to warn anyone thinking of reading this book that they should pick up a bible instead. As interesting as this book sounds, it twists the very basic truths of Christianity and waters down the real facts about our spirituality. Nothing in life can compare or replace true salvation in Jesus Christ. A life lived for Jesus is the most fulfilling thing one can do. Everything else is empty. Please consider God's true and living word instead, pray, and ask him to show you the truth.

Summary: White said it best -- Omit unnecessary words
Review: The author has some good thoughts to communicate -- none of them original. But, he uses so many words to do it. And, he repeats them. And repeats them. And repeats them. Ad nauseam.

Furthermore, he presents a smug God. I find that very unappealing!

He is one of the most self-serving writers I have read in awhile. Reading this guy is like reading "a fine Hearst publication."

Did the publisher employ an editor to review the work before printing? There are numerous grammatical errors.

What he says is not new. Others have said it much better. Notably, Wayne Muller, in "Legacy of the Heart," deals with many of the same issues and other important ones. However, Muller writes with respect for the reader, no interest in self-promotion and with a good purpose for the use of the profits from the sale of his works.

Friednship with God is not a new concept. It does not require a semantic battle to sell it.

It only requires faith.

Summary: Making more connection with God
Review: I know there are a multitude of reviews of this series, but I wanted to add my two cents worth. I truly resonate with this and enjoy Friendship With God, perhaps even better than than Books 1,2&3. I'd highly recommend this next in the series of CWG for assisting in incorporating this material into your everyday life!

Summary: Very confused?
Review: I have read two of the books by Mr. Walsch now, and I am wondering. Is anybody as confused as I am? Is anybody struggling to figure out what is true and what isn't? I feel like I'm going through some major change in my life, and part of it has to do with these books, but I don't know what is happening.

Shirley Maclaine wrote her books years ago, and a lot of people who are interested in Mr. Walsch's books seem to be in their 30's & 40's and were too young when she wrote hers to care about spiritual awareness, etc. Recently, however, I did read hers, and a lot of it is what Neale Walsch has written in his.

These books by Mr. Walsch have just come out, and they are so disturbing as far as what we have been taught to believe, and I can't figure out how to make them work with my life. We haven't heard from Shirley Maclaine for years. I would be interested in knowing how these "truths" have affected her life in the long run, since it is still too early to tell with Neale Walsch.

If anybody reading this knows Shirley MacClaine, please tell her to write us another book and let us know how it has affected her in the long run.

Thanks!

Summary: Slightly Deluted from the Original
Review: Alright I first read CWG 1 when I was 17 or so. I loved it cherished met Neale himself and was entranced by message. I backed off a little his whole messageis deluted simply because he isn't brave enough to boldly proclaim in person what the Book says We are GOD! Neale is smart man playing dumb he knew calling the series CWG would pull in disillusioned moderate Christians and now his contingent of followers are a bunch a flimsly newly converted New agers who don't get the message who I see in writings thanking God in the same old God is a nicer form of the Christian one they had. That saddens me greatly. Listen I still regulary read CWG 1 and I qoute its sayings often but I am not a Walsch disciple and I don't rant about him. A word of advice forget the man and and read the message. Apply these truths by your own knowledge don't be dictated too. Today I see all his 100 different self help books and I am disillusioned by that. FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD is just Neale realizing that most of his follwers are convert Practical Christians and not the real intelligent ones who REALLY understand the message. Neale probably didn't intend for his message to be read the way it is. He shouldn't have called it CWG then!

Summary: Start with this one
Review: I've decided to start giving this one to my friends instead of Book 1. It'll probably grab them so strongly they'll just have to go get the other three to find out the details of how we got here. Wow! What a peak experience.

Summary: Disturbing, thought-provoking, & very inspiring
Review: It is interesting to me in reading all of these reviews that many of the people writing them are doing exactly what "religions" and "demonimations" do in the name of "truth"--condeming and judging one another. The people who hate the books are "narrow-minded" fundamentalists, and the people who love them are godless "New-Agers." Surely the "contention" between people in these reviews must be disturbing to Neale, considering the fact that one of the basic premises of his books is the fact that there is no one true path but many ways to God, whether we choose to embrace fear in reaching God, or we choose freedom and love. I personally relate to everything everyone has written in these reviews, having been at each place at different points in my life. Ten years ago, as a fundamentalist Christian, having never studied anything except the Bible and the teachings of one or two mainline demoninations, I would have been completely unable to "receive" what Neale had to offer and would have, myself, condemed him as being an "Apostle" of Satan. In the fundamentalist churches, I was warned and taught to fear and hate the "Charismatics" who are too attuned to the "spirit" and are definitely receiving their information from Satan. Eventually, I embraced the Charismatic Church, where I was taught to be deathly afraid of Shirley MacClaine and any of her "New Age" mumbo jumbo, unless, of course, I wanted to end up in the fiery pits alongside her. However, having a searching heart and a desire for truth all my life and also a rather rebellious spirit, I sneaked a peek at her "forbidden" novels and found her to be fascinating and a woman with a sincere and honest desire to discover true meaning in life. This led to an earnest study of all world religons, and I realized what a "little" world I had lived in before and what a "fear" I had of opening my mind and letting go of my "self-hatred" and my "need" to be punished by an angry God. Bottom line--there is some truth and some error in every religion. I think the "Conversations" and "Friendship" books are wonderful, but I don't accept every word as being straight from God's mouth. Neale freely admits that he is a "filter" the same as were the writers of the Bible and the Talmud and every other Holy Book in history. The secret is in doing exactly what Neale has written about in these books--going to God and letting Him reveal His truth to you. God will not deny anyone who has a true desire to know, but that desire has to come with a willingness to admit that maybe you don't possess all the "truth" coming in and a willingness to "hear" truth that may not agree with what you have been taught all your life. God cannot reveal anything to someone who already has his mind made up!

Summary: The Natural Next Step
Review: Although you may be tempted to skip this book if you've already read the CWG trilogy, please don't. This book does repeat many of the principles elucidated for us in the first three books, but it also adds a new dimension to our relationship with God, namely friendship. A must read for followers of the series.

Summary: God still speaks
Review: Woah- God has been speaking and still does. An important book for anyone's spiritual growth.

Review: Friendship with God is, simply put, one of the best and most awesome books I have ever read. I loved the three Conversation with God books, but this one is even better. Everything is put simply and is easy to understand. It is an entirely new way of speaking of relationships with God, there is absolutely nothing "fear based" as one finds in many contemporary teachings from a wide variety of theologies and religions.

This book and its predecessors are truly a wonderful breath of very fresh spiritual air. Thank you Neale Donald Walsch for talking with God and sharing your conversations with me.
