Rating: Summary: Molly Moon's Incredible Book Of Hypnotism Review: Molly Moon's Incredible Book Of Hypnotism is a wonderful book. Molly Moon, an orphan in a horrible orphanage, finds a book on hypnotism. Molly goes from being a nobody that everybody hates, to being the most popular person in New York City. But somebody is following her, and wants to steal the amazing book on hypnotism to take over the world! The themes of the book are friendship and loneliness, and good and evil. Georgia Byng is a wonderful writer, and has also written a sequel 'Molly Moon Stops The World.'
Rating: Summary: Will not compare it to Harry Potter! Review: As a middle school librarian, I find myself reading almost as much young adult fiction as adult fiction and non-fiction. I think my 6th and 7th graders will thoroughly enjoy this book. Molly is an unfortunate young lady...an orphan, a bit odd looking, unliked by everyone at the orphanage except for her friend Rocky. The orphanage is run by a group of mean-spirited adults who seem to despise children. Even the head-mistress's dog is cranky. Molly's only safe haven is the town's library. During one visit she discovers a book on hypnotism, shelved incorrectly because the H has been torn off. She finds out that someone else has been searching for this book, the evil Professor Nockman. (Can a Professor be this evil?) He has travelled from the United States to obtain this book, and Molly overhears his ranting and raving when the book is not available. She sneaks it out and now her adventure begins. As she reads the book and perfects the art of hypnosis, her world is turned upside-down. Her many escapades are entertaining and cause you to cheer inside. While orphans and evil adults seem to be a recurring theme in many books for young people, the author is successful in keeping one's interest. The twists and turns are exciting. I think that most young people will be fascinated by this book.
Rating: Summary: Good as the "Moon" Review: Georgia Byng's debut novel, "Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism," is sure to delight the young and old alike.Molly Moon is part Eloise, part Little Orphan Annie. She lives at an orphanage in Great Britain under the watchful gaze of a cold woman who does not particularly like children. Then Molly discovers a book on hypnotism at the library, and her world goes from dull to wow. She has an amazing knack for hypnotizing people and animals like, winning over the heart of audiences and the loveable pup Petunia the pug. When Molly's best friend Rocky is adopted and taken to the USA, she goes halfway around the world to find him, and these adventures continue when her hypnotic powers catch the eye of a crook. This novel is fast-paced and travels from the United Kingdom to the United States and back again. The book has plenty of in-jokes and cool slang from both countries, not to mention a dog-napping, a dastardly villain, a bank robbery, a Broadway show and more! If you enjoyed this book, pick up the sequel "Molly Moon Stops the World" for even more adventures with Molly and her friends.
Rating: Summary: Nice story, not a good Read Aloud book. Review: I enjoyed the story of Molly Moon, engaging premise, extremely imaginative. I felt it bogged down somewhat in the middle/towards the end, but my child loved it. I read this aloud, and therein lies my greatest complaint. While it's a good story, it is a difficult book to read aloud. The language, though descriptive, does not flow the way a good read aloud story needs to. I also felt it was a little complicated to follow in that format. While I am interested in knowing what happens in the sequel, the next Molly Moon she will read to herself.
Rating: Summary: awesomest book everrrrr Review: I highly enjoyed Georgia Byng's Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism. The book is about lonely unwanted orphan Molly Moon who lives at Hardwick house, a terrible orphanage. When Molly discovers a book on hypnotism she discovers that this is a talent that she is good at. Using her powers she hypnotizes people to win money, trick people about her age, and get parts in plays. While she does this everyone feels satisfied and no one is hurt, she isn't a bad person. When someone finds out what she can do and who she is she gets in big trouble. When you finish reading this book you will want to read the next (Molly Moon Saves the World). I give this book 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: What I Like About You Review: I just finished reading this book to my three children, ages 10, 8 and 5. We had such fun with it! The book opens doors for discussing issues such as honesty, friendship, trust, and self-confidence all the while remaining unpretentious and hilarious. Additionally, it left us fantasizing about what we would do if we had Molly's hypnotism talent...and wondered if it would be right to use such a power. In the end, the kids were begging for more Molly Moon! We will be getting the sequel for sure.
Rating: Summary: Pinkpanther's* grrrrreat review Review: I read this story to my fourth grade class and they were captivated by it! I simply could not put the book down when I read it, and many of my students went out and purchased the book after I had read it to them. They absolutely loved the story! This book is a real page turner, and a terrific read aloud. I would highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Molly Moons Incrediable Book of Hypnotism Review: Molly Moon's Book of Hypnotism By: Georgia Byng Reviewed by:H.Patel P.3 This book is about a girl named Molly who lives at Hediech House and is no ordinary orphan. She has got her hands on a book of hypnotism. She then later realizes that she has an amazing ability. She has the ability to hypnotize people. And with her dreams of becoming a Broadway superstar this will surely help her. Sure she thinks no one no's, however she is wrong. Because a suspicious stranger is watching her every move and he'll do anything to steal her hypnotic secret. This is an amazing book and a book in which surely hypnotized me in reading. I also enjoyed this book because it made me laugh and giggle all over the place. For example, this quotes "NOTOROUS" this just helped me realize how Molly felt. I also enjoyed it when Molly said "GRRRR" this really surprised me because Molly seems like a girl that would never get mad. This really showed me a lot. As you can see I also enjoy this book because it is very interesting and an excellent book for 7th graders. My favorite part in this book was in the beginning. I enjoyed this because Molly has to survive alone with out her best friend. This is also the part when Molly has toilet monitor. This part also made me feel a little sad because they have to clean the toilets with their toothbrush. This part also makes me realize how much we should appreciate our parents. This is a wonderful book and is great to get hypnotized in!
