Summary: ONLY If You Believe Suffering Equals Virtue
Review: As a fan of Carolinen Myss and someone who has seen her speak I was conscious of her Catholic upbringing but totally unprepared for how different and overwhelmingly Judeo-Christian this material was. As a Buddhist I've always felt very included in her her language and her overall thrust. But unless someone comes to this believing that you must be humbled, that you must suffer and go into the darkness all alone to "hear God's will for you... that "it's not mine but thine" -- this will leave them wanting. It's definitely from the "no pain no gain" school of growth.

I absolutely did get some things of value. And her emphasis on the importance of gratitude and appreciation certainly resonated and was put in a way that was incredibly powerful. But I STILL had to do an adjustment since she meant gratitude to a diety... and that isn't part of how I feel the truth manifests.

I was sort of enjoying the second tape (the first was .... well... not for me)UNTIL she said (paraphrasing closely)"If I was the God of one of those people who chant or light incense or do incantations I would knock them on their butts so they would see Who was in charge."

I'm not a fan of arrogance. But I don't think one needs to BE HUMBLED in order to "get it."

I miss the Carolyn Myss who was bilingual. Unless of course this was solely for her Christian audience.

Summary: A must for anyone searching for the light and truth.
Review: Caroline Myss brings together New Age and Holy Text in a practical explanation/guide for everyone. Simple to understand, entertaining to read and listen to and gut level truth give the reader something to work with. She has opened a multitude of new doors for me to explore. She brings together the threads of all the formal religions of the world, all the peoples of the world, the embodiment of God in our every day lives and spirits.

Summary: Outstanding Roadmap for A Stalled Journey!
Review: Caroline Myss has captured the true essence of "the dark night of the soul". With style and humor she produces an excellent road map for anyone stuck in their own personal spiritual journey. Even if you are not stalled along the way, you will find great insight without being preachy, suttle humor without lessening the importance and valuable tips for continuing to seek the presence and grace of God.

I have listened to the tapes three times since purchasing it four days ago. Each time you will find something new to ponder.

Summary: An Absolute MUST Read for all adults.....
Review: Don't miss this. If you have ever had a discontent thought about anything going on in your life, if you are edgy, unhappy, or lost - read this book (or listen to the tape). You will receive validation that can help you get off your duff and do something worthwhile for yourself.

And if you like this book - you've got to get everything by Carolyn Myss. She is fabulous, funny, practical, and doesn't pull her punches. You can "hear" her as clear as a bell. She'll be your best "book on tape" buddy if you want to change your life!

Happy Reading.

Summary: Compelling and insightful
Review: Dr. Myss takes the spiritual traditions of east and west and brings them into contemporary spiritual practice. The madness of life becomes chaos that we need not fear, but embrace. The style of presentation is a bit sloppy and unstructured. The question and answer session is compelling

Summary: OUCH! Interesting ideas- but ruined by abrasiveness
Review: Every time I listen to Caroline Myss I initially find her ideas intriguing and worthy of close attention. But as each talk progresses her message is usurped by her choice to deliver these ideas in an abrasive, admonishing and arrogant style. After listening to 15 minutes of Caroline you get the impression that just about everyone but her is a silly, irresponsible, phony person who understands little about the truth. She talks as though she were the truth itself and proceeds to deliver us a stern lecture about our shortcomings- like a 3rd grade teacher in a bad mood playing the role of God. Eventually I turn her off because of this unnecessarily alienating energy. Those who admire her for her "tough truth" should listen to someone like the Buddhist teacher Pema Chodron who delivers a truth equally as tough but with love, insightfulness and joy. In the end, it is Caroline who still has much work to do on herself. My hope is that she works through this and changes her style to more genuinuely reflect the joy of the supposed breakthrough that she is trying to share with us. Then I will eagerly listen to the ideas of this obviously deep and intelligent person.

Summary: Not another New Age "self help" tape
Review: For those concerned about references to New Age or Eastern mysticism, be assured that Dr. Myss's concepts are solidly rooted in the Christian tradition. She has some wonderful references to the myriad of mystical experiences common to the human condition, which may soothe those who have decided to reject traditional Christian teachings. Her approach, however, builds on classic truths taught through the ages, not on simplistic misinterpretations. She has distilled these truths into a very cogent, direct presentation relevant to our own age which should be of interest to those seeking to enhance their understanding of a complex subject. For those who are really in the middle of a "dark night of the soul", she offers an incredibly helpful way to stay focused and not give in to anger, despair or self-sabotage. Highly recommended.

Summary: Highly Recommended
Review: I have read/heard/seen most of Myss's material, and this is my favorite. She is speaking to an audience, not reading (as usual), which avoids the stale "reading" style some tapes have. Though the title implies a focus on the dark or difficult times, there is really a broad spectrum of great information regarding the spiritual path. Particularly on this tape, I think, her rigorous, conscientious, no-BS, compassionate, highly-truthful, relentless delivery shines forth.
