Rating: Summary: A message of hope and inspiration for this generation! Review: Pastor Warren has outdone himself with this book. There are many gems of wisdom in this easy-to-read book for non-theological types like myself. Excellent Christ-centered material for all of us!
Rating: Summary: Just Not Enough There Review: Mr. Warren's guide might be perfect for those who are friendly to, yet not acquainted with Christianity. If you having more than a passing knowledge then, nothing in this book will come as a great surprise to you. I bought this book with a great deal of hope that it would provide some interesting insights into life. However, it became merely a rote recitation of platitudes (true nonetheless) that God created me and I exist to worship and praise him in all that I do - or, a reworking over a few hundred pages of the first line from the Baltimore Catechism. I suggest instead a more challenging read, such as Augustine's "Confessions," Kempis' "Imitation of Christ," the Book of Job (perhaps Tolkien's translation from the Jerusalem Bible), or even the "noble pagan" Epictetus' Enchiridion.
Rating: Summary: Must Read For Seekers Review: Everyone is looking for their purpose on Earth. Rick Warren has allowed God to speak through him in The Purpose Driven Life. Warren uses sound biblical references to clearly outline our purpose in life. What a decisive message to get back on track in fulfilling our purpose.
Rating: Summary: This book changed my focus and Being Review: It's not about me it is about the Glory of the lord most high. This book changed the lives of my friends and myself. It is an amazing and wounderful journey into becoming who God wants us to be.
Rating: Summary: To Parents And Those Who Will Be Review: "The Purpose-Driven Life" by Rick Warren is the religious based explanation of what life is all about from the belief and revelation perspective. It'a a great, inspiring book for parents and others who want to "teach kids right". And, it's a simple explanation, which I am all for. I believe in God and Faith, but, I also believe in knowledge and reason. A simple explanation through knowledge and reason of what life is all about is found in Remick's "West Point, Character Leadership...". I recommend that you go on to reading that book after you have finished reading Rick Warren's inspiring "Purpose-Driven Life". The books are very different in their mode of presentation, but both are wonderful.
Rating: Summary: You gotta serve somebody! Review: The crux of Rick Warren's 40-day personal devotional is that you have to serve somebody and why not let that somebody be God. Man's highest end and purpose as affirmed by the Westminister Confession of Faith is to "glorify God" and Warren acquiesces with this truth. Warren takes readers on a 40-day spiritual journey of prayer and study with this daily devotional book. Warren's book should help believers strive to glorify God in all their endeavors. Overall, it is fairly well written book with some fluff, but some profound spiritual insights nonetheless. And I think that many Christians would benefit from reading this book. Though, I think a Christian should at least consider reading a daily devotional if they aren't already (such as 'On Holy Ground' by Charles Stanley) upon completion of this book. Those who like orthodoxy, like myself, may be turned off by the use of Scripture citations from all the trendy 'New Wave' Bible translations that use dynamic equivalence in translation (i.e. thought for thought instead of word precision.) I find it a bit distasteful that the book was so commercialized with all kinds of supplementary products to this book coming to the market. I guess it depends on the where the believer is on their spiritual road as to whether or not they will get any value out of this book. With this said, I must opine that they are no "spiritual plateaus" and we should always strive to grow in our relationship with God. I think it is better geared towards young Christians, though not necessarily recent converts.

Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Mr. Warren did an outstanding job putting his book together. Reading it is like reading 40 mini-sermons. I anticipate that I will spend another 40 days reading it again.
Rating: Summary: Direction Review: This book outlines 5 steps to determining your purpose in life. It provides several biblical references. At times it appears to have the author's own opinion thrown in without a biblical reference, but for the most part he keeps it focused and to the point. It certainly provides the reader a new way to look at life.
Rating: Summary: Excellent - A must for those who want to redirect their life Review: Rick Warren in his book and tapes has done what God intended him to do. This is a well written book from someone who is spiritually enlightened. It is a must for those who would like to redirect their lives and live a happy fulfilling life as God intended to be. It uplifts, encourages and puts you on the right track. God bless Rick
