Rating: Summary: A book with a lot to offer... Review: It is easy to see why many churches have adopted this bestseller as a teaching plan. Modern life with so many conveniences and its superficiality has left a vast number of people feeling asea in the world. Without purpose, man feels useless. Addressing this problem, Rick Warren reminds readers that they were created with a destiny in mind, that God does not make anyone by accident or just for the heck of it. Each one of us has a role to play. With scriptures and advice sound enough to transcend the barrier between the secular and religious world, Mr. Warren helps his audience refocus and develop an individual blueprint to fulfill the reason God placed them upon the Earth. At the end, he includes a review and questions that make it adaptable to group settings.**** Many religous books are too fuzzy, full of promises and fluff, however, this one is solidly practical without losing it's Christian focus. Offering much more than think good thoughts and you will get the prize, this book makes the plans seem doable. **** Reviewed by Amanda

Rating: Summary: A Message To People Who Care Review: "The Purpose-Driven Life" by Rick Warren is a religious based explanation of life -- "what's it all about" -- from the perspective of belief and revelation. It's an inspirational book for people who care about teaching America's young generation the difference between right and wrong. And, I'm all for that, especially when it is made into a simple explanation, as Rick Warren makes it. I am a religious person who believes in God, faith, and revelation. But, God also gave me a fair and balanced mind with the ability to recognize the merits of reason and knowledge. I have learned, as St. Thomas Aquinas did, to reconcile reason and revelation as both driving toward the same goalpost and, together, give God's complete explanation of what life is all about and the difference between right and wrong. And, in all fairness, I feel that I should disclose here that the book which helped me to reconcile reason and revelation and simply to understand life is Norman Thomas Remick's "West Point: Character Leadership...". After you finish reading Rick Warren's "The Purpose-Driven Life: What On Earth Am I Here For?", I recommend that you go on to read the Remick book. The books are a contrast in style and presentation, but both have very wonderful and inspirational information.
Rating: Summary: The decline and fall of the church Review: This book is for pastors who only are interested in money, power, large congregations and big tithes. Insipid pop rock Christian music and watered down gospel messages is what this book is about. Avoid at all costs!
Rating: Summary: Participating in your purpose driven life Review: God helps those who help themselves, so I recommend this book and another book called Optimal Thinking: How To Be Your Best Self so that you can be your best and make the most of what is within your control and leave the rest to god.
Rating: Summary: Utter garbage Review: WHeeee!!! Here's another gimmick book for pastors who are envious of mega-churches and sick and tired of struggling with their small, poor congregations. You can also buy the Pupose driven mouse pad, coffee mug, keychain, and -let's see what's next? How about a line of purpose driven snack foods and sportswear? This is the same shallow, theology lite gospel that is reformulated every few years for the suckers. Hey, mega-churches may be doing something WRONG if they are so popular - churches that don't talk about law and judgment but just about grace and feeling good are always going to be popular.'Forget this trash. If you are too lazy to read the bible or a pastor who can't make the bible come alive you may not be saved and should get out of the church.
