Summary: Helloooo?!!!
Review: where O' where is everyone's common sense?
why in the world would you read this book if you are not even close to being a Christian?

I would NOT read a book based on the Koran and then go review it for other Muslims...(bashing the heck out of it).

Here it is...plain and simple:
If you are Christian you will appreciate this condensed version
of the bible. Rick Warren researched every aspect of the bible which teaches us how to live our lives. It's a mini-bible focusing on how we are to live our lives.

How can a Christian say anything negative about this book? Rick Warren didn't make this up!!! It all comes from our ancestors over 2000 years ago.

Thats it plain and simple...
Don't listen to any of the other reviews!

Summary: Powerful book
Review: This book is must reading for all christians. It's impact is in a word---PROFOUND!

Summary: Solid foundation for a Christian life
Review: I was impressed at how solid this book was. It is based purely on scripture and does a great job of explaning the basics for a Christian life. The first 7 chapters are very elementary and somewhat watered down. Once you get past these you will move into the heart of the book. This book inspires Christians to look at their lives and encorages action.

This is a must read for all new believers and will provide a solid reinforcement to those who are stronger in their faith.

Summary: It's not about you!
Review: This book was an awesome read!
It challenged my thinking in so many ways. I thank God for revealing to me the five reasons that he created me by reading this book. Don't read this book alone. It is meant to be discussed with a group to gain greater insight. This book is not for everyone. It does not help you in your quest to define self. Yet, it is for people who are on a journey to make Christ the center of their lives. This book is a life manual that you will need to read over and over again as you mature in Christ and grow to be more like Him. Truly, I am not the same person after reading this book. Remember to God be the Glory-it's not about you!

Summary: What's Going On at Amazon
Review: I have not yet read this book but I am definitely going to because there seems to be a conspiracy to prevent it. I usually read the comments about a book before purchasing it myself and I must say I am truly surprised at all the bickering. While I agree that non-Christians have a right to their opinion, we Christians do as well. This book is obviously written for Christians about the Christian life. So my question is why are you offended? If a Christian read a book about the Church of Satan he would also be offended. Don't read things that will cause offense to you and then complain about it. Also I think that it is unfortunate that you cannot trust Amazon to be honest and fair in the ratings of this book. I was kicked out of the system several times while trying to rate others comments as helpful or not. Then to read that 5 star ratings are being deleted is disheartening. This kind of societal attitude is why a book of this nature is so very necessary.

Summary: Probably won't read it.
Review: This is not a true book review.

I have heard so much good about "The Purpose Driven Life," that when I saw it in a book store I leafed through it reading a few lines here and a few lines there. And I was very disappointed.

Based on what little I read, it appears to be yet another Christian book domesticating God and letting middle class American Christians feel good about ourselves.

It seems to be VERY shallow.

I have a long list of books I'd like to read. "The Purpose Driven Life" is not on it.

Summary: SHOULD BE REQUIRED READING....ESPECIALLY FOR THE LOST SOUL
Review: This easy to read book should be MEMORIZED by all
Christians. I had to preface it by saying "all Christians"
because it is very bible-based. Everything he says is
so comforting and brings your heart and soul to PEACE.
Everything he says is bible referenced.

FOR ME, PERSONALLY:
I've just weaned off anti-depressants (post-pardum/second baby) because all I need is a "purpose-driven" life. I plan on reading this book for the rest of my days here on earth.

It has had such a profound affect....the little things just don't matter anymore. My soul is at peace. The term "don't cry over spilled milk" is more true than ever now. Because....

WE WERE MADE TO LAST FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Don't read it because everyone else is...
Review: This book is well written and balanced. Provides guidance even for those who have grown up in the church and have lost what is most important.... the whole reason we are here. I recommend this book but I do think it is at it's best when you are not reading it to defend your views or because everyone else is. Read it when you are ready.

Summary: I Like It!
Review: I've read several reviews on this site and at other locations that bash the Biblical integrity of this book. After reading it from cover to cover, I like it! I see it as true to the Scriptures, and helpful for all who read it. Warren here presents an easy-to-read, easy-to-follow guideline for experiencing greater discipleship.

Granted, the purpose outline can be seen at first glance as very self-centered: "YOU were planned for God's pleasure, YOU were formed for God's family, YOU were created to become like Christ, YOU were shaped for serving God, YOU were made for a mission." The point however, is that all of these statements answer the essential question "What on earth am I here for?" with GOD-CENTERED answers!

I recommend this title highly as a Biblical, non-technical reference to promote Christian discipleship. Reading it with a group is much more beneficial than reading it alone. If you haven't experienced this book yet, give it a try and see what you've been missing!

Summary: Spitirtually very sound.
Review: While I am glad to see that teenagers like the one who wrote the review that precedes mine are reading this excellent, outstanding incredible book by Rick Warren, I have to wonder if this teenager really read the book ot just the free stuff on the internet. Or perhaps just browsed it at the school library?

Perhaps he missed the part that Rick Warren wrote about in purpose #7: You Were Created To Become Like Christ.

"As the Spirit of the lord works within us, we become more and more like him and reflect his glory even more."
-2 Corinthians 3:18

Or

"God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his son...We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him."

-Romans 8:29

Here is another one:

"Live life with a due sense of responsiblity, not as those who do not know the meaning of life, but as those who do."

-Ephesians 5:15

I have not seen anything in Rick Warrens book that is anything but what I have read in bibles, perhaps said a different way, but noetheless, based on scriptures and as though written by God.

I give this teenager credit for taking the time to look up those passages and for reviewing the free stuff on the internet regarding TPL by Rick Warren. Now I challenge you to read it and apply it. It works and it will change your life.
