Summary: What did happened to those 5 star reviews?
Review: Interesting at how only the 5 star reviews were deleted and still no explanation from Amazon as to why. Also interesting as to how the 1 star reviews were not only never deleted but continue in their pathetic crap.

One piece of good news is that according to recent polls, not many people pay attention to Amazon book reviews anymore.

But still we have to ask, Amazon: What Happened to those five star reviews and why were they deleted without purpose? Huh!

Summary: Waste of Time
Review: I read this book individually, with weekly discussion meeting at my church to go over our experiences with it.

Personally, I didn't find any content in it that you won't have heard at church or read in other publications. Further, I didn't find the presentation of this content to be compelling. I didn't find his presentation of such important topics as your relationship with God to be well-written. I don't seek for God to be my "best friend" and I don't feel he feels that way about me. He's my heavenly father, my Lord, my God- that's totally different from a "friendship", though it is beautiful and loving.

I found his use of scriptural quotations, and just his overall theological standpoint, questionable.

I'm also just naturally suspicious of any book that spawns other books, journals, etc etc- all kinds of gadgets to apparently help us in deepening our knowledge of the book- not The Good Book, or classic statements of faith.

I would recommend instead "Celebration of Discipline" by Richard Forster, or the A Heart Like His devotional journal by Beth Moore (for women).

Summary: It's A Good Thing
Review: No, I'm not Martha Stewart. I'm just repeating what everybody else is saying about this book. I also read someone recommended 'The Little Guide To Happiness'. I agree. That's a cool book.

Summary: Powerful and timely book
Review: With so much confusion and even hate in the world. With so few people knowing what to do or where to go and considering that I am writing this on the Eve of the Resurection of Jesus Christ, I cannot think of a better, more appropiate time than right now to read and apply the concepts in this book.

Summary: How to get closer to God and have purpose
Review: The main purpose of this book is to teach how to focus your life on God and thus fulfilling your life here on earth. I find it to be a good read because it makes you feel like you are not a mistake and that you are here for a reason, and that is to please and worship God. It's very inspirational for people who want to become centered on God and not theirselves. This book points out that we are not the center of the universe, God is. It tells you that God loves you and made everything for you, and worship comes in many forms. I have been reading little pieces of it every couple of days, and it helps me get through my days because it gives me the little confidence boost in the morning that we all need every once in a while. If you want to go on a spiritual journey, read this book! It gives you chapters to read every day for forty days. If you truly want to get a closer relationship with God, this is an awesome book for you to read! It has helped me through my days and I find it to be very inspirational. This book is for those people who are struggling and life and need to get closer to God. This book will change you spiritually.

Summary: Good read. . .
Review: Not all the way done reading it and I'm not a very religious person, but it's a very thought provoking book. At the end of each chapter is a question to ask yourself. It really made me think about a lot. Even if you're not very religious, it's just a good book on how to be a better person.

Summary: Something for everyone
Review: This book has a little bit of something for everyone, whether someone just looking into the Christian faith, or looking to hone and refine their relationship with God. Oddly (and thankfully), it's not a self-help book spouting off psychobabble interspersed with Bible verses as so many Christian authors tend to grind out lately. This book sticks almost entirely to Scripture only for the answers to the questions it poses, answering them completely and succinctly.

Beware of looking for this book to give purpose to the reader's life. Titles notwithstanding, Warren makes it quite clear in the beginning of the book that only God can do that, not us, and certainly not his book. Most dissatisfied readers I have come across seem to have missed that point.

But enough about my word for it. Check it out. It may have something for you, it may have everything for you, but I think anyone wondering these questions of the meaning life will find a piece to chew on for a bit.

Summary: Some insights... A good start
Review: When I read the purpose driven life, I could almost feel that this guy is a good guy, has a relatively genuine purpose in writing the book other than earning best seller dollars and of course promoting his church. Of course, I do not always agree with his views on the church and fellowship. I almost feel like I am being called on to write my own book. He did not address how the world's major religions fit together but rather I personally could feel an exclusivity almost, which is an irony. We are all five fingered humans, Christian or not.

Summary: Outstanding Book--changed my life!
Review: I can't recommend this book highly enough. What a great read! And what better philosophy than the word of God.

Judging b y the 1 star reviewer and number of unhelpful votes by that one 1 star reviewer, it looks like this book is needed now more than ever.

Purpose! What is your purpose? Read this book and discover it or accelerate achieving it.

Summary: The problem with people with no values is.......
Review: That they write reviews like the one that precedes this one. Exactly the kind of people that need this book, a Bible, regular church attendence and life outside the internet.

Nowhere in Warren's book does he or does God via the scriptures advise to live a life that is closed to everything but the internet.
