Summary: Very inspirational and artistic
Review: The author's ideas are simple and rather obvious for living a joyful life, e.g. simplifying, filtering too much information, volunteering, etc. but they're also inspirational. In these cynical and selfish times, it's refreshing to read about a celebrity who practices what he preaches, i.e. family values. Also, he explains that he mass produces his uplifting artwork so it's affordable to the general public. In fact, I used one of his bookmarks while reading this positive and encouraging book.

Summary: Wishy washy feel good philosophy. Do all roads lead to Rome?
Review: This book was a major disappointment! Although Iam not a fan of Mr.Kinkade I was asked to read this book by a friend. I had read that Mr. Kinkade is a committed Christian, but this book casts a serious doubt on what he means by that. Seems to me he is more interested in making Oprah's book list than in standing up for what he claims he believes. Mr. Kinkade presents God (never does he mention Jesus) as just one of many means to the light, just an option in a serious of options, something that is 'helpful'...not central! To quote "almost every religion every culture, find meaning and metaphor in stores of day and night...the radiant glow of goodness and the murky depths of evil...that the things of light are better than the things of darkness. The specific interpretation of what this (the light) means, of course, will vary. And yet the basic ingredients of a light-filled life remain obvious and universal" John 8:12 tells us that " (Jesus) I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." As Christians this is the message that should be carried. Jesus, The Light, The Way, The Truth, The Life, is not just an option in the buffet of life. He is central to our message as Christians and it is vital that we speak this truth loud and clear! Frankly I find this book offensive, especially when Mr. Kindkade states that 'It does help to believe, as I do, in a loving and benevolent God-or, at the very least, a divinely ordered universe. But even if you can't must belief of this sort, you can still choose to trust in the richness and beauty of life... " As a Chrisitan can I really in good conscience offer people a choice between belief in God and trust in the richness and beauty of life? I really don't think so.......... So my advice is skip this book...if you're looking for true Lightposts for Living pick up something by Max Lucado, Bruce Wilkinson, Phillip Yancy of Chuck Swindoll and don't forget that the clearest lightpost is your Bible! John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Summary: Very inspirational and artistic
Review: This was a great book. The chapters, or lightposts, each elaborated on an idea for a more joyful life. One of Kinkade's suggestions that I liked was the "glow books." When something good happens to you, jot it down in a little notebook and share it with someone you love. I started my own "glow book" and already it has helped me appreciate the good things in my life. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to add a little joy to their lives. I certainly have!

Summary: Truly a ?Gem of Light? to Humanity
Review: What a magnificent treat! Thomas Kinkade writes as well as he paints! He captures his goal by convincing us to "Let Your Light Shine." My most treasured passages tell us about focal point, commitment, involvement, eternal purpose and spiritual vocation. He suggests we learn the fine art of choosing what we will allow into our lives, minds and hearts on a daily basis. He takes the time to share his beliefs about his purpose in life and his talent. This lovely book will inspire and surprise you. It makes a perfect gift for anyone seeking spiritual guidance and meaning in life. It would be a particularly appropriate gift for Jr. and High School graduates.

Summary: Simply Beautiful...
Review: When something is beautiful and lovely and full of Americana at its best, there are bound to be detractors. They scoff at this work, call it names, and talk in intellectually superior tones about the qualities this type of art supposedly lacks. But there is something in the sensitive soul that resonates to the words and pictures of this wonderful artist. Whether it is the beautiful simplicity of his paintings or his suggestions for a more beautiful and meaningful life, this book will touch a place inside of you that always knows that our true nature longs for the type of life that this book encourages.

Sure, some folks will dismiss the sentiments and ideals in this book because they have allowed jaded and negative views to dominate their minds and finally their souls and then called it "intellectualism." If your mind is open; better yet your heart, you will find in this book nourishment for your soul. Very highly reccomended!
