Rating: Summary: this is the basics that a guy needs to know to dress smart Review: Few men today know exactly why they're wearing what they wear. There's a long history to the suit and ties and the more guys know about it, the better they're going to look. This book has the basics for guys who want to dress sharp. I wish more men would understand the point of dressing well. Then maybe they wouldn't be so relieved on "casual Friday." They'd be sorry to see the tradition of a well-dressed man fade away. I sure am. This book is well worth the investment.
Rating: Summary: Destined to be a "Classic" Review: Finally, a useful, straight-forward book on men's clothing. This book led me by the hand and showed me what the elements of classic clothing are - and now I can spot them a mile away. It also answered interesting questions I would never have thought to ask. If you appreciate classic taste and style then this book is for you; if you don't, it may not be your cup of tea.
Rating: Summary: What to wear... why Review: Have to jump in here. I loved this book, precisely because it doesn't just tell men what to wear. Style isn't about being told exactly what to wear. Style is understanding what clothes say about a man and how to look good! Any book that tells you exactly what to wear is going to be stale in one year. This is the book that lays out the whys!
Rating: Summary: Pleased but hoped for more. Review: I was pleased with the content. I wish I had read this before I bought my last sportcoat, shoes and tie.
Rating: Summary: Pleased but hoped for more. Review: I was truly pleased with the content. I wish I had read this before I bought my last sportcoat and pair of wingtips.
Rating: Summary: Truly "Indispensable" Review: I've been helping my fiance pick his clothes for almost 4 years now, and finally this book has come along to make my life easier. It's amazing how often I go back and refer to it, the pages are already worn. Whether it be fabrics, tailoring or style questions, it's all in there. Now I have a man on my arm worthy of a GQ photo spread, who could ask for anything more...
Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: Mr. Sulavik and Mr. Karlen have hit a home run with this book on men's dressing. They have combined a helpful how-to book with descriptions and details on how to attain true style. A great addition to you library! - Clint Greenleaf, author of "Attention to Detail"
Rating: Summary: If shopping is hell, this book is the up escalator. Review: My dad let me down. I needed this book at 15, at 20, at 25, at 30, and I'll still be thumbing its dog-eared pages when I'm 90.I guess Dad can't be blamed for missing this one, since it's only months old. But it has all the markings of a perennial: a user-friendly Q & A format, commentary from experts throughout the fashion world, detailed illustrations, but most of all, a Saville Row-like precision in cutting through all the high-priced rags and unprofessional tailoring that American men are asked to navigate. How do I build a smart wardrobe? Now I know.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Value Review: There is nothing I hate more than wasting money. And there is nothing quite so satisfying as finding a good bargain. With that in mind, this book has become an indispensible guide and companion as I navigate through the sometimes treacherous waters of buying clothes. Now when I see a shirt marked down to $9.95, I am able to discern if it really is a bargain or if I will be out $9.95 and still not have a shirt to wear. This is a wonderfully informative book and gives all the information I have been seeking on the fabrics and workmanship of men's clothing.
Rating: Summary: A Must Have for Men--and Women ( who shop for their men) Review: This book gave me the inside track on dressing for success. It provides me with a daily checklist of do's and dont's that the ordinary man would never know about. "The Indispensable Guide To Classic Men's Clothing" is exactly what the fashion police ordered. Check out the chapters on Dress Shirts and Formalwear. It will put the finest fashion pundits to shame. These two guys know their fashion. If you are heading to Wall Street or to Madison Avenue don't go without this book. It will give you what you need, whenever you need it. Kudos and much paean for "The Indespensable Guide To Classic Men's Clothing." And, kudos to its authors.
