Summary: Over-rated
Review: Perhaps it is my age but I find this loose art unattractive. The book made me dizzy, not something I want in a book on art.

Summary: excellent book
Review: Sabrina so thoughtfully combines her words, her art, her knowledge and the knowledge of others to show us a picture of her life. A great book to pick up time and time again, a new window opens each time.

Summary: Bless the mess!
Review: Sabrina Ward Harrison articulates for me what i couldn't express for myself then. It is fascinating to see her creativity developing at a young age and to just get a glimpse of her depth and ingenuity. It just so happened I was also reading a book by Anne Lamott at the time I was reading Sabrina's book - she refers to Lamott a few times in her book - and what an experience to be validated in such a powerful way by two very different women, leading very different lives. Inspiring!

Summary: A vibrant use of colors, a beautiful exploration of spirit
Review: Sabrina Ward Harrison has written a beautiful first book which will resonate with girls and women of many ages. The brilliant color she uses in her artwork expresses the joy and richness of life, even as she looks at her own confusions, insecurities, and explorations. This book reminded me wisdom of young women who can not yet appreciate their own incredible rich beauty. I bought this book for my pre-teen daughter who is beginning the struggle for self-acceptance and appreciation. I also bought it for my oldest friend to remind us of how we were...and still are. Thank you Ms. Harrison for Spillling Open.

It is a book of extreme wiseness, and meaning. Everyone is awed by Sabrina's sense of creativity and love for herself and others.

Summary: lovely and breathtaking
Review: Sabrina Ward Harrison is so inspirational. This book makes me want to paint and create and write great things. I love the little girls she draws with the sad mouths. I also can relate to her feelings of insecurities about her body and herself. It's just a really honest book. I love it.
