Rating: Summary: For Imbeciles Only Review: If you are a modern-era airhead who cannot handle deep thought, this mindless pablum is for you. Otherwise, don't bother.
Rating: Summary: Laugh out loud! Review: If you enjoy animals, you will enjoy the photographs depicting them in this book. Many of the facial expressions and the statements can be attributed to bad days, sad days, and silly days! Great stocking stuffer, pick-me-up, or surprise gift. Just a little something to tell others you're thinking of them.
Rating: Summary: The Meaning of What??? Review: It's a shame that Bradley Trevor Greive ruined all of those beautiful photographs of animals and nature with all the little green letters at the bottom of each of the pages. I wish those letters would have been put together in a truly meaningful way instead of such a simplistic, postcard, meaningless way!!
Rating: Summary: A Great Pick-Me-Up Review: Like THE BLUE DAY BOOK, THE MEANING OF LIFE is part humor, part inspiration. The message is simple: basically have a positive attitutde, embrace life, love what you do. It's a perfect book to leave on your desk at work or give to a friend (especially one who's down, out of a job, just graduating, and so on). Many of the animal photographs and the captions are hilarious, just like Greive's other books. I'd be surprised if anyone bought just one copy. :)
Rating: Summary: Good Gift Book Review: Pay no attention to 'One-Star-Mike'. As a work of metaphysics, I agree, one star, max. But that's not why I bought three copies. As a gift book to keep on hand for birthdays and other gift-giving occasions, it's perfect - five stars. I bought multiple copies of "The Darwin Awards" for the same reason, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who wanted to understand evolution. Lighten up Mr. Whitney. Not everything has depths to be plumbed.
Rating: Summary: Save your money, save a tree Review: Save your hard-earned money and skip buying this greeting-card-like book. You will also save killing more trees -- too many have already been sacrificed to provide the paper for this simpleton stuff. Despite the hype, there's nothing more in this book than a 10 year-old child could write in a few minutes, and as other reviewers have pointed out, the books in this series (all by the same author) are degrading to the dignity of animals. What a shame.
Rating: Summary: Too simplistic / shallow Review: Some of the photos in this book are cute, but most of the text is too simplistic and shallow. I have found many more profound thoughts to cheer me up and help me build real happiness in "Open Your Mind, Open Your Life: A Book of Wisdom" by Taro Gold.
Rating: Summary: Bold Title, Beautiful Pictures Review: That's a bold title for a book with a fluorescent frog on the cover, Brad Greive hardly expects you to take him seriously, and yet, there's enough substance to learn something about keeping life in perspective. The photos are remarkable, like the vertical look upward between two skyscrapers and the bull breaking up a china shop (so it really does happen!). For example, Greive juxtaposes photos of polar bears: the first pair of bears are engaged in paw-to-paw combat, and in the opposing page, he shows two similar bears dancing. His message below says how doing the cha-cha is less injurious yet as effective as fighting for resolving tension. Greive is witty, warm and smart with his comments. I fully recommend "The Meaning of Life" by Brad Greive as an excellent gift choice. Anthony Trendl
Rating: Summary: Powerful, funny little book! Review: This book combines gorgeous animal photos with poignant and pertinent words about what life is really about. I ordered copies for friends the day I read it.
Rating: Summary: Can I rate more than 5 stars? Review: This book is for anyone and everyone. The author sets the readers expectations in the intro, that this book does NOT provide answers - it is a book about questions. When I picked this book up at [local store], I found myself so overjoyed I read the entire book in the store. With useful wisdom applying to all areas of life, the book does not stress an answer or religeon or method, though it agrees with the loving happiness you will find stressed in any society or religion. Nothing metaphysical - this book is simple and may have a different meaning for each reader. The most brilliant author since Aesop.
