Rating: Summary: A 5 Star Movie Waiting to be Produced. Review: Nick and Nora Charles, step aside, there are some new sleths in the house. Gyles and Cornelia, as well as their unlikely cast of cronies are a complete delight. Fun, funny, clever, dour, testy, and saracstic are just some of the words one can use to describe the fast paced, often outrageous, dialogue and plot development. Aside from the primary plot line, the book is liberally laced with high camp and just a touch of insanity. The book is thoroughly entertaining and contains a labyrinth of twists and turns to confound even the best mystery reader. All of it is done in high spirts and high energy. I would love to meet real-time people like Gyles, Corniela, Rita, Val, LucyAnn, and Nagib.
THIS BOOK CRIES TO BE MADE INTO A MOVIE! If I were to cast this book as a movie, there is NO DOUBT that the omnipresent shadow of NORMA would be played by Glenn Close, LucyAnn by Whoopi Goldberg, Gyles by Ruppert Everett, Cornelia by Ellen Degeneres, Val by Tom Cruise, and Rita by Christine Baranski. The Diva drag queens could include Rue Paul, perhaps "Diesel",Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo, and Wesley Snipes (thank you "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar" for this replay). Nagib, the dark and crazed character could possibly be portrayed by Nicholas Cage, while his sister, Tatiana might be played by Joanna Gleason. Ok, enough of my casting fantasy frenzy, but once you read this book you will understand my casting rationale.
This book is one of the most amusing books I have read in the last year, and its creativity is a credit to its author. I eagerly await two other "promised" sequels by Glamour Galore. I SALUTE YOU MR. ALLISON FOR A TOTALLY ENTERTAINING ROMP!
