Rating: Summary: recommendable book Review: This is a readable and interesting book not only for westerner but also for us Japanese. However I would like to read much more on Greek and Latin literatures. And next time more comprehensive volume including Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Persian and Arabic anthologies I hope to read.In addition, the editor didn't understand the Greek language well, since he erroneously thought that " Amores " of Lucianos(p.23-24) is different work from " Affairs of the Heart " of (Pseudo)Lucianos(p.49-).
Rating: Summary: I'm in love but I'm lazy... Review: What an opportunity missed! Half of this anthology is devoted to works of the 19th and 20th centuries! How could this be a "gay anthology?" when it completely underrepresents the people who were born before my grandpa? There is NO stuff here from (a) China (b) Japan (c) Islam. Worse than that, there is all the academic bafflegab from Mr. Fone, who seems to have actually believed in "queer studies" when he stapled this book together. A good reference book.
