Summary: Tragic In A Desperately Seeking Susan Kinda Vein
Review: All over town sex-industry workers are being found dead in dumpsters. Then the frumpy laundry-mat operating main character's stripper best friend disappears without a trace. Much of the novel is spent with the main character wondering whatever happened to her buddy and getting all misty over their troubled relationship. By the end it turns into a sort of mystery about corporate evil, the economic oppression of women, and the trouble with "angels". Mildly entertaining though not the best of novels, but anything with lesbians automatically gets at least two stars in my book.

Summary: I'd rather eat nails . . .
Review: This novel is a complete waste of shelf space. Much like its protaganist, the novel goes absolutely nowhere and does absolutely nothing. The problem is a classic literary one: how to represent a boring, stilted life in anything but a boring, stilted manner. This book fails the task miserably. And just when you find yourself thinking things couldn't get worse, it turns out the entire novel is a lead-up to the author's next book. Don't waste your time OR your money.
