Some of the stories from this are excerpted in "The Vintage Book of International Lesbian Fiction", and they inspired me to order a copy of this. I wasn't disappointed. Te Awekotuku's language is often strong and forceful, and her depictions of the lives of women in New Zealand are intriguing. Most of the stories center on the character of Tahuri, but not all.
