Summary: ...[some people] will hate this book
Review: how fascinating to read the different reviews of this book!

it seems that the "child advocates" who are out to "protect" kids are all giving this one star. well, its sad and silly but that is what they are.

this is a story about a man who loves a young boy and is able to show it in all possible ways. i am not saying that every man-boy relationship should be sexual, and im not saying that there are not plenty of adults who are out to sexually exploit a young boy. but this story is certainly NOT a portrait of that. why cant these people acknowledge that its as possible for a boy and a man to be attracted to each other as it is for two adults (and i think its safe to say the critics would only deem male-female permissible) to care?

as to the book itself, it tends to be a bit stilted at times; i would have given it only three stars, but i am giving geraci an extra star for his bravery in putting this caring -- and necessary -- work on paper.

Summary: An eloquent, but strange tale of love
Review: I just didn't understand this book. It just didn't make sense. It wasn't reality based and just isn't relevant. I am really disappointed with the overall story and writing style. I wouldn't recommend it to others. Sorry.

Summary: a tender, loving story
Review: I think this wonderful book should be in the hands of everyone who thinks that they are a lover of boys. As someone who's currently in this kind of relationship, I found the book very compelling and true to life. Also, I've been on both sides of this issue. I had a similar relationship when I was a kid, and it was most beneficial to me.

The story follows the inner conflicts of an older man as he's trying to resolve his relationship with a younger boy, with all the twists, suprises and rush of feelings that a boy can bring. I think this book would be useful to younger people, letting them see that there's more to love and relationships than what they see on the evening news, and the media in general.

Summary: Unbelievable- foul book
Review: The fact that this book tries to make a predatory relationship respectable is despicable. In brief, it's a story of a perverted adult male who seduces an emotionally needy boy. Anyone who thinks this book is great is suspect. Don't forget- molesting is illegal. If I could have given this book a 0 star, I gladly would have done so. Anyone who can condone behavior that clearly destroys children's lives is off.

Summary: An eloquent, but strange tale of love
Review: There were some real moments of eloquence in this book, but it really didn't seem to be realistic in a lot of ways. I can see how a boy might have a relationship with a man, and love him, but not in such a intensely sexual way. Perhaps it's just because I'm from America, but I don't see how a boy would be interested in sex with a man in this way. The most unrealistic thing was probably the man. I don't think any men who are attracted to boys really put the boy first, though they certainly claim to and convince themselves they do. In the book he is portrayed as in a delimma as to whether to end his relationship with the boy for the boy's own good, since the man has to return to America. I don't buy this. Men who have sex with boys don't care for them like this, but they might do and think caring things to make it seem like they care. In reality, men who have sex with boys don't leave them for things like a job offer, they only leave a source of sex when they are compelled to.

This book is good for giving an exchange of ideas on how one side of the issue feels about it. Of course there is some light here in that this book allows us to see an important side of the issue of pedophilia that some would like to ban. It is a fortunate victory for freedom that this book is still published and widely available.
