Summary: Interesting Story, but Could be Dangerous...
Review: Warning: This story is NOT for the faint-hearted. If gay sex (and sometimes raw gay sex) makes you queasy, then do not buy this book.

Although this book is definitely what you would call erotica to a large degree, that is not all it is. I love mysteries, and gay-themed mysteries are always a treat. And that is definitely what you'll find in "The Fair Cop." Mark Hanson is a masculine, gay cop working in New York City during the 1950s, a time when being gay was not a good thing for most. He is given a case involving the death of a young man in a manner suggesting some bizarre sexual practices, enhanced by very descriptive notations in a diary the victim kept. The search for the truth leads him to some interesting people, and he begins to see a whole new aspect of the gay world that he never saw before. One aspect of the story I found interesting (although not the main focus of the book) was the discussion(s) between Hanson and his "partner" on the case regarding the FBI's persecution of gays. That fact is not widely known in many circles, but is explored pretty well as a sub-story within the book.

During the course of his investigation, Hanson has run-ins with several suspects and supposed colleagues, which often lead to him definitely having a good time. So, if you're not really interested in the story lines mentioned above, and are just looking for a "good time", this book may be just what you're looking for. Strong, masculine men at their finest is definitely what you'll get.
