Description:
Although not the most distinguished of the annual collections, Friction 4 still manages to serve up hot scenes and enticing combinations. The editors' taste runs toward casual encounters and a minimum of plot; one recurring theme is the queer American abroad. In Sean Wolfe's "Plaza del Sol," an American teacher in Mexico is drawn into a restroom orgy with gifted natives. A young and inexperienced Southern Californian discovers secret Denmark in Aaron Krach's "Scandinavian Sex Ed." And in Dominic Santi's "Constantine's Cats," a photographer sent to capture on film the cats of the Roman coliseum also discovers a lecherous Italian tour guide named Tonio, who tells him "All Italian men are tops" as he bends over for the manly Americano. One-handed reading of uneven quality but consistent wickedness.--Regina Marler
