Rating: Summary: Wishful thinking... Review: Although this title does propose a valid point of view, it is one that is grounded so firmly in denial and mis-information that even those who propose to believe in the ability to "heal" homosexuality dare not examine it too deeply. It reduces homosexuality and child abuse to whims and petty urges that can be wished away. What a sin to create such a sham and pass it on to a trusting child. If that is how you choose to raise a child then this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Repulsive Review: I found the book very interesting and well written for a difficult subject. Knowing the book to be autobiographical and written by a therapist adds much to the credibility of reparative therapy. One of the few books to address the issue honestly . Though too simplistic in some areas, I feel it is important for children - or anyone - uncomfortable with their homosexuality but are told, "too bad. deal with it" to know there are viable alternative options. Hope to see more books on this issue now the APA has changed its view.

Rating: Summary: This is CHILD ABUSE!! Review: The author is using this book to advocate the discredited theory that a person can change their sexual orientation through reparative therapy. Both APA's have denounced this so-called "therapy." There is not a single (much less a body of research) peer-reviewed article that proves that such therapy really does what it claims.Cohen, and his modern-day snake-oil salesmen, consistently refuse to subject their "theraputic methods" to scientific review and standards. Even those that have claimed to have been "cured" admit to having sexual feelings toward the same-sex (eg: John Paulik, etc.). That does not sound like a "cure" to me! This book, based on unethical and immoral practices, should never reach the hands of children. As a parent, I will make sure my son never sees this book!
Rating: Summary: Pure Evil Review: This book is nothing more than evil, right-wing, hateful garbage! While I strongly oppose the banning of any book, I'd make an exception for this awful piece of propoganda. The author should be charged with committing a HATE CRIME!
Rating: Summary: Repulsive Review: This book is repulsive, misleading, and patently offensive. My heart goes out to gay and lesbian teens who are the unfortunate victims of molestation by a family member and then have their lives further complicated and confused by this kind of trash.
Rating: Summary: Hopeful and helpful Review: This is a wonderful and rare book that offers encouragement and hope to young boys who may be experiencing unwanted sexual attraction to other boys or men. It is also helpful for any boy who may have been molested. I have been a teacher for 35 yrs and also do private counseling. This is the only book on this subject that I am aware of to date that doesnt tell a child that he must be gay and just has to accept it.
