Rating: Summary: A Beautiful Novel Review: I read this book in one night! I simply couldn't put it down! Rhett DeVane breathes a life and beauty into her characters that just breaks your heart. It isn't often that I read books like this; I usually have my nose buried in old classics and fairytales. But something about this book really made me feel a twinge of nastalgia, though maybe it was that flower and old beat-up hat on the cover that first caught my eye. I laughed. I cried. I cheered along with the rest of the characters. Most of all, I fell in love with Jake, who reminds me so much of my brother. Ms. DeVane really touched upon his situation in the most tender and poignant of ways. The Madhatter's Guide to Chocolate is a book about life and the way we choose to live it. An excellent read and a beautiful first novel. I look forward to reading more from Rhett DeVane!
Rating: Summary: Madhatter's Guide to Chocolate Review: Rhett DeVane's Madhatter is a wonderful book - I highly recommend it for pleasure and thought! It is touching and makes you think about situations "other people" find themselves in. Her wonderful sense of Southern humor (my favorite brand) is heartwarming. She has woven a beautiful story in with thought- provoking life - things that are real and happen everyday somewhere - whether we chose to acknowledge it or not. I am a reader - not a reviewer - I DO LOVE TO READ - about 40 books a year - Rhett's is DIVINE!

Rating: Summary: Madhatter's Guide to Chocolate Review: The Madhatter's Guide to Chocolate is a "must read" book if you want to experience almost every emotion you can think of when you read it cover to cover. I grew up in this very town and the book brought back so many memories. Although the names had been changed and some events had been fictionalized, I recognized many of the characters and the situations they got into. Rhett DeVane's style of writing is very amusing and so descriptive, I felt like I had gone back in time and relived many of the events. I loved the way she sprinkled chocolate recipes and excerpts from the Madhatter's journal throughout the book. I'm going to add some of those recipes to my recipe book. Once I started reading the book, I couldn't put it down and when I finished it, I wanted to read more. I can't wait to read her next book.
Rating: Summary: Must Read Review: This book is fantastic!!!! Best I have gotten my hands on in some time.. You won't be able to put it down..
Rating: Summary: Best book in 50 years! Review: This is a story of country-fried Southern folks who face death, hatred, bigotry, old age and every other human condition and are magically triumphant. Reading this book allows you to have hope that we will overcome and faith that we will embrace each other no matter what our differences. Romantic love, neighborly love, love of family, all love is shown to be the same, just a different flavor. Northern Florida, the Panhandle, is a very unique place and so are the people. You will meet very interesting folks who may seem a bit familiar, even if you are a Yankee. There are many wonderfully humorous stories interwoven within this book and you will laugh out loud....guaranteed. I'm a reader, not a reviewer. I've read at least 2 books a week for 50 years and I can't think of any book that is any better than this one. The Madhatter's Guide to Chocolate by Rhett Devane is a book for your heart, soul and mind. Enjoy it like a warm homemade brownie with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge on top with whipped cream and a cherry.
