The struggles we find in being a man and being gay are even more numerous. Add to this growing up in a broken home. The odds are surely stacked against us.This book covers the life of a man that could be any one of us or are best friend.Randy had all odds stacked against him. A abusive and alcoholic father, a mother that could only protect him by taking the abuse herself. Coming to terms with his own sexuality Randy overcomes and gives hope to all who struggle with being gay. This is his life story filled with sorrow, lovers, friends and finally hope and strenght and success. I will read it again. OH yea!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This was a big help to me... Review: There are many common events in the human experience, yet we all experience those events differently. In the life of a gay man, coming out is perhaps the most significant as it is the process of coming to grips with one's self. Reading this book offered an insight into one person's experience. Seeing how someone else wrestles and copes with all the issues that come with it - and that they make it out the other side with a better understanding of who they are, is inspiring. This book was reassuring to me and the bonus was that it was eloquently and often poetically communicated. I highly recommend this to any gay man (or person) trying to find - and make - meaning of their life.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: An open honest portrait of a man Review: This book is an open honest exploration of one man's strugle through life as he deals with his childhood abuse, emerging homosexuality, and loss of a dear friend. Randy gives a frank and revealing view of his life. He frames his journey through the men who have influenced his life, from his father, to his neighbor, to his boyfriend. This book is an interesting exploration of what it means to be gay, but moreso, what it means to be a person who struggles with the same challenges that we all are.
