Rating: Summary: from the author Review: Czech Mate is, in many ways, a novel about extremes - a narrative pushed to the limits of credulity, and sexual behaviour where power operates as the driving force behind human relationships. Its plot revolves around imprisonment, dominance and voyeurism. Yet despite this, the book also concerns itself with the limits of these pleasures and, to put it simply, the push towards love, solidarity and a return to home. I hope this novel gives something to everyone. All the characters - the cute eighteen-year-old army recruit, the grounds-man in his early thirties, the twenty-something English teacher - all of them offer a fantasy, a blank slate which gradually offers itself to the reader to be written on. Each page serves up a new erotic scene, but the book never rehashes, the sketch is constantly redrawn. There is always movement onwards - a new encounter, a variant on sex, the push towards a greater climax. Czech Mate is, above all, a novel designed to satisfy its reader. I hope each page of the book satisfies you, and that when you've finished, you are satisfied with the novel as a whole. If you've read it and liked it, I'd be grateful for your comments.
