Summary: Somewhat Disappointing
Review: Purdy was hyped to me as a provocative storyteller, one who explored the grotesque, peculiar, deviant and downright twisted. So, I read this novel and found it somewhat weak. The characters were thinly drawn, the story was seemingly incomplete, and the narrative simply didn't hold my interest. The novel reads more like a promising draft than a polished work. There are some witty, enticing scenes, but the novel as a whole never comes together tightly, coherently, strongly.
