Summary: One of the best...
Review: "Annie on my Mind" is one of the best young adult lesbian novels around. I loved the characters (especially the teachers), and was very impressed by the gradual pace the two main characters took towards intimacy. The actions of every character in the story were surprisingly human.

Summary: What a phenominal story
Review: After running search after search on the internet for books containing lesbian characters, I finally found Annie On My Mind. My goal was to find some sort of reassurance that I was not so strange and that there actually are people in the world like me. I figured the best way to do this was to see if books actually existed with lesbians as 'normal' main characters, and not simply obscure sex-starved sub-plot characters. Rather than finding a book with lesbian main characters, however, I found a love story about two girls. I wish now that I could force my parents, and anyone who has a problem with my sexuality, to read it because this book proves that being gay is not a bad thing. It is a great story that definatly comes with a moral: Love, no matter what type, is the only important part of any relationship.

Summary: A Book About Love
Review: Annie on my Mind is the most beautiful love story I have ever read. This book is charming, honest and I recommend it to anyone, straight or homosexual. As I was reading the book, I kept thinking to myself, "I wish anyone who thinks homosexuality is immoral or disgusting would just read this. Maybe then they could understand that it is love." Annie on my Mind does not contain any erotic or sexual scenes, which makes this book a comfortable read for anyone who is not quite at ease with homosexuality.

Summary: A little dated, but a classic
Review: At this point, Annie on My Mind is dated. I suspect most teens would find it corny. However, it is the young adult novel that began a trend of high quality YA lit with homosexual protagonists who are not punished for their sexuality. The world of Annie and Liza is a far cry from today's world where gay teens populate WB dramas and teen movies (not to mention are out and proud in high schools everywhere). These girls had no role models on TV, in novels, in movies, or, really, in life. They depended on each other to explore questions of sexuality--I won't say they actually explore their sexuality, as there is little more than a chaste kiss in all of the novel. They were isolated and made mistakes. Anyone reading this can see how far the country has come in its attitudes towards homosexuals. Annie on My Mind is a bittersweet love story worth the read.

Summary: Yes, I remember it well.
Review: Did you begin to experience your attraction to other females at an early age? Did you find those sexual vibrations, along with the verbal intimacy you experienced with female, irresistible? I did, I was there and "Annie on my Mind" brought me back to some of those incredible feelings of first love. It is a well-written and very believable story. We more need literature, such as this, which validates our own experience and which we can recommend to young women who are first learning about their sexual attractions to others of their own gender. Although this book is written for young women, I feel sure you will find it just as enjoyable as I did.

Summary: Beautiful and real
Review: I am 16 years old. I read the reviews for this book and went right out the next week a bought it. I have to say if anything it was well worth it's price infact it seems a bit under priced not that i am complaining. My story is alot like annie and liza's story in a way My parents and some friends are very homophobic. My friends(the close 1's) were more understanding than i ever exspected them to be theyweren't suppose to know not all of them but some1 heard another girl ask me if i liked so & so and in a matter of 24 hours my home life was almost destoried! My little sister took it much worse than the charaters brother chad. Anyways the book is AMAZING it tells how they really feel and I could relate to it. I think most gay, lesbian or bi-sexual people(teens)can. Even if your straight I suggest you read this book. Definatly read it if you just want to try and understand. Any1 who's parents don't know. don't let them find out how mine did it was bad. Maybe try giving them this to read after you tell them. I also found alot of the characters in the story had reactions like people I knew. As I said it is Amazing i just finished it and plan on reading it over and over again! It shows how shy some people are about it at 1st but deep down you know it's there and how it always has been. It shows the pain alot of us have to go through just to be ourselfs. As 1 of the teachers said don't let the cruel reactions of people win...let love!

Summary: A Must Read!
Review: I sat down and read this book in about three hours and it was sheerly amazing. I can not find a bad word to say about it. It moved me, almost to the verge of tears. This is a must read for any one. Especially young lesbian and bisexual women. This was good literature, hands down.

Summary: 'Wow' is all I can say
Review: The only way I can express my love for this book and its theme is to say that I feel like I'm Liza and the book is Annie. This book is about two girls who gradually discover that they are homosexual and that they feel a powerful love for each other. Their happy lives with each other are shattered when their homosexuality is discovered, but they learn to love each other again by the end. One thing about this book that I liked almost as much as the story itself was the front cover. I felt that it was a symbol for what was to come. This book is beautifully written and is a real treat for anyone like me who loves a good romance. Please, read this book and scream, just like I did, because I loved it so much.
