Rating: Summary: A romantic, mirthful, and spry novel Review: Foolishness, They Called It is a romantic, mirthful, and spry novel by gifted writer Rhonda Rhodes about three lesbians from Denver who take an extended vacation on an organic farm, shortly after the Vietnam War era came to a close. The hardships of farm life, a sexual reawakening, and interpersonal exploration on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels fill pages of this original, thoughtful, thought-provoking, and quite enjoyable commentary on life, sex, love, and personal growth.
Rating: Summary: Foolishness, They Called It: A Review Review: I throughly enjoyed reading this book. The characters were interesting and well developed. My emotions ran the gambit of laughter and tears as the relationships between friends and stangers unfolded. The book was quick and easy reading and difficult to lay aside once captivated by the story line. If you are an animal lover such as myself you will enjoy the antidotes weaved into the plot about a variety of animal characters. The passionate scenes between women was powerful and real. I applaud the writer's abilty to emotionally move the reader. One relates easily to the characters as they experience the trials and tribulations of their lives in the aftermath of the Vietnam War era.
Rating: Summary: A good book about some very engaging women Review: Rhonda Rhodes, the author of this lively and heartwarming book about some very engaging women, does a wonderful job of introducing characters that the reader comes to care about. You hope that Sidney will finally get together with B.J. Will they eventually share a life together? As for Aunt Mabel, you wish she would share with you more details about the "love of her life" and about why B.J. is so much like her. Red and Kara seem like a couple that you could share some great times with, whether on Jim and Joan's farm in Asheville or in Denver where they share a home. Especially enjoyable are the sex scenes, of which there are several. These scenes really help to round out the characters. They are truly three dimensional beings. The author paints a picture with her words. The reader can visualize the characters, their habitat, their adventures. These women work hard and they play hard too. If you want to escape for awhile to another place, another time....read this book. Thank you Ms. Rhodes for a great piece of women's fiction. Good job!
