Rating: Summary: I can think of 50 Reasons to buy this book. Review: Brilliantly written, wonderfully entertaining. Well done Mr Alexander.
Rating: Summary: Stop that! Read this! Review: Multicultural? Nah, just a fantastic tale of one guys hit and miss, and sometimes hit and run, lovelife.
Brilliantly written. Brimful with witty reflections on those sticky moments we all have from time to time. But it's not a trivial tale. You can't help but wish the best for Mark as he heads towards the shocking denouement.
Most satisfying story I've read in ages.
Seriously, get it, read it, and wait for the sequel.
Rating: Summary: SIMPLY FANTASTIC ! Review: Nick Alexander has written a novel of such IMPORTANCE that I UNEQUIVOCALLY and ENTHUISATICALLY recommend that every gay man read it. Is that important enough?........Mark, our hero, is on a life long journey seeking love, happiness, fulfillment; all the things most people seek in their life.. While on this monumental sojourn, he encounters, over a series of years, lust, weirdoes, passion, sterile sex, what pretends to be love, and a host of other liaisons that confound, confuse, and frustrate. He tries a variety of venues to meet his mate, none of which produces the desired results,... except one. That one hope lies in a casual response to his personal ad, but for a variety of variables, the contact is lost...until. As he gives up all hope of ever finding a "soul mate", fate intercedes, and intercedes, and intercedes; bringing to Mark much more than he ever anticipated. This is a story of one man's, and everyman's search for romantic and emotional happiness. This is a story of the enduring resiliency of man's search for personal meaning. This is a story of survival. IT IS A MUST READ!
Rating: Summary: A great summer book Review: There used to be a downloadable pdf of this book circulating, before it was published, and that's when I read it. I'm really glad to see that someone finally published it. It's a great story, or rather set of stories which all fit together to make up a whole. The format makes it readable and addictive, I think it's a perfect summer read to dip in and out of as you sit on the beach. The characterisations are powerful and we get involved and really care about what happens to the people involved, and overall it's much better quality literature than we usually have to put up with from gay authors. My guess is that straight readers will enjoy it too for it's voyeur aspect of peeping in and seeing what gay life is all about.
Rating: Summary: A good summer book Review: There used to be a pdf file of this book circulating before it was published. I'm glad an editor finally picked it up. It's a great story, or set of stories, and the short stand-alone chapter format makes it easy to pick up and quite addictive. The characterisations are strong and the reader gets involved and concerned for the main character. The climactic end is the most amazing surprise. The writing is much better than we are used to putting up with from gay authors and my guess is that the straight world will enjoy the voyeuristic access to hidden aspects of the gay dating game. All in all, I think this is the perfect summer books to dip in and out of when you're on the beach and although I don't often read things over, I intend to order a proper copy for myself and read it again.
Rating: Summary: Ok. Multicultural book- but white bread Review: This is a good multicultural book to read, but it's too PC. It as if the book was an episodic show allready on one of the big 3 Tv. networks.
"The Big Book of Jerkcity" , ISBN 0966331184, is multicultural too, but far more funnier and edgier.
