Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Powerful
Review: I have to say that this book is powerful. The author shows her versatile ability--from the academic to the activist, from the high (Proust) to the "low" (Divine and John Waters," from the militant (to the conservative) to the heartbreaking (see how she mourns for her friends who died of AIDS). As brilliant as her earlier books such as BETWEEN MEN and EPISTEMOLOGY OF THE CLOSET, TENDENCIES has something more: it cannot be easily pigeonholed. I am so glad to see an academic book which is so against the grain. The dialogue with Michael Moon in the book is hilarious and superb. Many passages are touching. Cool book.
